UBB.Developers Forums Community Development Programming PHP and Server-side Scripting Using .htaccess to protect my /cgi-bin/ubb folder

I'm trying to make it so my board is only available to my site members. I password protected my /cgi-bin/ubb folder with the "trial" version of UBB. It worked well, and I can change the username and password every other day or so and post it in the members section. (I figure one username/password should be sufficient.)

This shouldn't give me any problems, should it? The scripts should all run correctly, right? I know this may sound weird or obvious but UBB is only the third cgi script I've ever installed.

I do the same thing for my "test" board, and I haven't had any problems with it.

On my main board, I use only use HTTP authentication to limit access to the control panel.

No problem there . After finding out I didn't give myself (the admin) permission to read or post to my forums in ikonboard, I've been reeeal careful about my boards. (What kind of moron writes a script that makes it so Members can read forums but not Mods or Admins? Isn't it logical to assume that if Members have access then Mods and Admins would want access too?)

That was the #1 thing that drove me away from ikonboard and to UBB.
