I want to be able to use my ubb board members user names and passwords to log into other areas of my site.

I have two choices from what I can access.

1. Extract the information from the UBB Board from and .ASP application and replicate the data(user_id/Password) in SQL Server.

2. Let the ubb board do it for me, by validating login and maintaining the users logged in state.

Can this be done? I'm not familiar enough with ubb to answer this. Can someone point me in the right direction in terms of how to extract member information(username/password) from the ubb.

Thanks

Um... we don't have a Database forum... I'll move it into Server Side Scripting, though. You mentiond .ASP, so I guess that's where it goes... confused

i dont know if anyone can do exactly what u want...iv asked b4 but wasnt successfull...but u can stop people from viewing certain pages of ur website by requiring the cookie the ubb puts in the persons computer...this way if they are not signed into ur ubb they cant log the page...it isnt that secure but its the best i can help u with...if u are interested tell me..or if anyone else can help go right ahead

Thanks - Thats interesting because that was the workaround I was working on right now.

I did run into a problem though. For some reason VBScript does not allow me to use a replace function on an Ampersand nor does it allow me to use the Left function. I want to be able to parse the Cookie string and seperate user_id and Password.

for example: The ubb cookie writes this to my local computer.

UserName&Password&DisplayName&45&00008374

I'm doing the following to try to parse the Username:

Code
code:

It spits out the following error:
Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a0408'

Code
code:

Any help is appreciated and thanks again

Sorry about the sloppy code. For some reason this UBB doesn't allow me to use the word "Cookie" it kept telling me it was a Tag not allowed, and it was all over my code

I hope you get the gyst of it though.

I would like to see how you do that...can you make downloadable textfile with instructions or post it here?
