Ok I have recently tried using SSI within dreamweaver for one of my websites yet I have a problem.
When I insert the necessary file ".shtml" into the webpage it inserts it and it works fine but I am unable to modify any content on that page, I understand that I cant alter the ".shtml" on the webpage but even content that was manually placed into the page becomes unaccessable.
Dreamweaver doesn't let you edit a file within a file, if that makes any sense to you. What Dreamweaver is showing you is essentially a preview of what the page will look like with the included file. So if you want to change what's inside the included file, you still need to open it separately and edit it like you would normally.
