I trying this....

yet it isn't getting processed. I mean that if I view source on the blank page, that code appears. I guess it's getting treated like a comment. Is that turned off? Is it a security threat?
I can do regular includes, like include .htm files, but I can't seem to include the ubb. I'd like to try and integrate it into my site more, and I think that's the first step.

It's an active server page that I'm trying to include the ubb into.

Can this be done?

The correct way to integrate the UBB with your site would be by using the header and footer text areas in your style template. Stick a
in the header and a
in the footer, and then the UBB will display itself inside the tags. Of course, you can get far more complex than that, but you get the general idea here.

Instead of trying ssi try using the control panels and changing the style.
Just make a html file with the table layout you want. Select the cell where you want the ubb to appear and all the code above the cell to the header section in the ubb template then copy all the code below to the footer section in the template.
Basicly you paste the html code in the template.
You just need to split it up between the header and footer because of the layout you are trying.
If you view source here you will see they are doing pretty much the same thing.
There are lots of answers here look for things such as add side menu or table.
Here is a start HERE
