Hello,
I know some basic stuff in OO Perl ( constructors, destructors, inheritence, polymorphsm .. etc. ) However, I want to know HOW to implement these features in a real application. I mean we all know how to program using function-oriented design. How to do so in Object Oriented fashion?

Personally, I have a strong dislike for OO Perl, so my recommendation is to stay away from it. smile

But if you wan't an example of its use (within non-OO code) take a look at the UBB filehandler, or secgroups in newer versions. Seems Charles Capps likes OO Perl a lot these days.

I use OO when it seems appropriate... usually to hide complexity. You don't get too much more complex than PNTF or FileHandle/FileHandler... SecGroups is getting there.

Passing around objects as data is also very useful... i.e. how PNTF gets passed a copy of filehandler.

Well, my UBB license expired long ago but I have an old 6.1 residing on my HD. I saw the modules they blame for laugh . They give a chance for other DB backends ( although I think that would still require a lot of modifications because the sort operations are still done outside the file handlers I think, while SQL does this within it's queries ).

Seems I have to learn Python then. But I'm too lazy to do it laugh
