Because I didn't know where o post this I post it here, I hope that it's right.
Ok, here's my problem:

I wanna release my new board in 1 week, so I just sent some users of my old board to it to test if everything is OK. One of the users had Netscape instead of Internet Explorer and all he saw was NOTHING but a pink background color !!!

I don't know, but if you ask me what I think what causes the error, I would say the header. So this is really important for me because many of my users have netscape.

Do you know how to fix it or did you had the same problem ?? please post, this is the URL to my forum:
www.frustchat.de/cgi-bin/board2/Ultimate.cgi

if you wanna post just use

thank you

Moving this to Design Integration because it's probably a header/footer problem and not associated with a mod/hack.

Check your < head > tag in your header field in Control Panel. You have massive amounts of info in there, including tables and javascript. I'm thinking some browsers won't take kindly to that.

do you think it's a difference between if I do some tables which are needed in each of my files in the header input in cp or if I just put this whole code in each file ?

all of this:
Code
code:
needs to go in your "header" box... right now it looks like you have it in the "headerinsert" box, about halfway down...
put your javascript, meta tags, and css that goes in the header in the headerinsert box, the rest in the header box...

Sorry, but none of it shows in NS 4.75... which is interesting, since it does show in NSv6...hmmm... I'm gonna have to download it now...

You still have some code clean-up for your header/ footer so it can be viewed in NS <6... plus, your table tags are all unbalanced... when checking out Ultimate.cgi, you have 8
Anyways, good start, find out where those missing table tags should go and you'll most likely be ok...

Here's the screenshot (too big for display): http://dbz.star64.com/uploads/XTCBoY2K/muc.jpg . Looking at that screenshot, his forums appear fine to me.

In IE and NS v6 it may look fine, but it only downloads the background image in NS<6. It chokes on everything else... major table problems in the header/ footer all around...

NS will usually load the cgi pages if at all possible and choke on the .html, but it refuses to load any of this site... which is up to you if that matters... I would do some work to fix what is going on there tho...

hy guys,
thanks for the screenshot!
but even with NS 6 it doesn't look like I want it to appear. I think I will install netscape on my own pc and then delete the header, so if it works then we know where the problem is located. I'll be back soon

Ok, I tried to delete the header and it worked, so I knew the error is located in the header code. Guess ? Yes, I got it workin !!!

So just some design fixes and it looks like new. But now I have another problem: each site is viewable with netscape but the threads themselves. could anybody of you have a look in it ? I don't know whats wrong

thanks

[Linked Image] I knew I had forgotten anything... thanx

So, for me, everything looks fine now.

By the way: Allen (or anybody else), do you you have an idea how to make the login on my mainsite look better ? I don't like the one which is currently there. Is it possible to have a background image behind the input fields ?
