I've been playing around all night, and I want to know what people think of my kind of new design. www.antipopculture.org/info.html is the old design www.antipopculture.org/info2.html is the new design. If the new one works in netscape at all, I'd be surprised. I haven't yet summoned the courage to check it, I just want to know what people think. theres probably a better place to put this, but what the hell, its my damn forum. ------------------ -david www.antipopculture.org Who's in bunker, who's in bunker? I like the layout of the first one alot better. I have one suggestion for that image though. The lower left side of the image looks kinda bare, that's right in the center of the screen for me. If the image were filled in a little more right there it would be PERFECT. I'm an IE user. DOWN WITH NETSCAPE... PL ------------------ X-Admin Of Gaming Update Pioneer of Gamespecs.com

You post is all screwed up, so I assume info2.html is the NEW design. New design without a doubt. The old one wastes half my screen for a graphic. Not a good thing. ------------------ Neal 'Thradar' Ulen Webmaster - GamerForums.Net Senior Editor - Moviefan Online This message has been edited by Thradar on November 04, 2000 at 01:14 AM

thats because I'm a very bad boy and defined the table width in pixels, and its 825 (i think) wide. I did that because I'm spoiled and I have a 1024x768 res and IE 5.5 like I said, I'm going to work on it again today...I usually never go over 800 wide...for obvious reasons. and boy, did I find some embarassing HTML in the old one. My bad. ------------------ -david www.antipopculture.org Who's in bunker, who's in bunker? Women and children first Women and children first

Yeah, I know what you mean about learning left from right, I have that problem too. But I like the image the way it is, besides, there are bigger fish to fry. NOTHING I do makes it work in netscape. NOTHING. I've made it work in IE three different ways [margins (although it makes the bottom look funky), a pixel shim, and CSS positioning (my favorite mathod)]. NONE of those options works for NS, CSS positioning the least of them. It spreads the page elements all over the screen and **** . Must...find...NS developers...and...commite...act of....violence. I'm seriously considering just saying "frick it" (albeit in a more profane way) and letting it suck in NS. But that wouldn't be proper. Whatever. EDIT: I really should use pronouns and antecedents right. When I said "it" in the above paragraphs, I meant the design. The design, it doesn't work. the dog, he runs. ------------------ -david www.antipopculture.org Who's in bunker, who's in bunker? Women and children first Women and children first

OK, almost there. works perfectly in IE 5.5, naturally. Doesn't die in NS 4.7. But it looks really bad. See, NS and IE display pixel size differently, I'm sure. And it's ridiculous. I have the spacer (to keep the main table out from under the drop down menus) set to be 20px tall, and that PERFECT in IE but too much in NS. By the time the spacer is short enough to apease NS, it's way to short for IE and graphics are being cut off. I've uploaded all the new files, it's only 705px wide now, and could probably be skinnier. And the font looks horrible in NS. and NS isn't showing the padding right. they must DIE. OK. So the main problem is the spacer doesn't look right in NS. Now how can I fix that...? ------------------ -david www.antipopculture.org Who's in bunker, who's in bunker? Hey, I had a quick look and all I could find wrong was cellspacing="0" width="625" height="110%" align="left"> That height tag doesn't need to be there. Other than that I'm temporarily mystified TotalNewbie

back when I first started this project, I found that it was necessary, for some reason or another. Probably so the gray sidebar stretched all the way to the bottom, which it didn't before. I don't know, I haven't tried it without the heigh defined. All I know is that it doesn't have anything to do with my current problem, so I'll leave it. ------------------ -david www.antipopculture.org Who's in bunker, who's in bunker? I finished! www.antipopculture.org/info2.html Thanks to the marvel of CSS positioning, my new design works in IE 5.5 and NS 4.7 If anyone else could test it (perhaps with opera, or earlier versions of both major browsers), that would be cool. its a beautiful day in the neighborhood... ------------------ -david www.antipopculture.org Who's in bunker, who's in bunker?
