Can someone help me. I made a boo boo and accidently erased all my .fla files. Is there a way to extract all the art and or animation from the .swf files? There has to be a way! Thank you =)

Not that I can think of, because it means you could take a .swf from a site get the art and animation edit it a little and say its your own.

You did??

Please tell me where you got it, I have done the same thing, and just accepted it.

It would be very useful to have.

Is it that shareware program? I have found something that somewhat does that but it does not work the way that we would all like it to.

Whats the url?

Swifty Utilities Free programs.

You're right, it doesn't exaxtly convert. You will need extract to layers, extract movie clips and unlock swf.
These programs will let you have all your art and information but you will still need to put the action script back in. After you extracted the clips you must import them into flash, swf files are compressed you can't just convert them back to fla.
Kinda like converting mp3s back to sound files, you lose quailty.

Hope that helps [Linked Image]

Luckily all these utilities doesn't give you back your .fla ... wink

The only good way is tacking backups ...

Every half hour you save your .fla
Every hour alternate the file name and dir location ... (another physical hard disk will do fine)

If artwork is done or just when you feel it ... take a real backup.

Fla's you didn't use for a while ... burn them on a CD ....

All these little nifty tools gives you only a timeline of one layer ... so you probably won't learn that much from it ...

If you really want to learn from .FLA files go to flashkit.com and download some open source fla's, but really don't use the trick of ... "i accidently erased ..." it's rather old and no one really believes it ...

Even if it did work, you can't extract any ActionScripts, Guild Lines or multiple scene movies... And it don't work work Flash 5.

But then again, most people keep backups of backups. Just incase something happened to one copy. laugh laugh laugh
