Very cool Allen, what would be even cooler was if you could get rid of the on/off lights, then have 2 sets of the background image for each forum. If there are new posts it would use one, if there are no new posts itd use the other. (ie. you could use a color one for new posts and a black and white one for no new posts.) But anyway... still very cool.

here it isn't perfect - the bottom part of every forum row (except for the 2 last ones) is kinda messed up...

well, i do have a problem by finding out how to fix the height of the forumtablerows matching perfectly to the height of the slices. i included a bunch of 'height'-tags but they do not work. i also know that usually i have to include for especially very old netscape-browsers blind.gifs into a table-tag to fix the height and width.... but well, dunno, using 6.01 was easy, had not big problems by creating a dumb table with a fixed height for every row but the template-files of 6.5 confuse me ..
anyway, lk, thanks for the hint @ infopop.com, i'm me dummy did not look in ubb_forum_sum to check the length of the subjectline, me dummy was look all time in public_forum_sum for that line *g*

height="x" for tables isn't supported by most browsers, it manages to sneak into people's code anyways It looks like you need to make the image slices a bit taller to fill out the table, the extra you see at the bottom of each is the image being repeated to fill the space. You can add a no repeat style to the image, but it needs to be bigger to look right

well, because of the fact that usually some users do get problems by viewing a table with older browsers i made some sort of 'workaround' in 6.01 adding a 1px-col with a 1px-transparent.gif stretching the table to the correct height of the slices i used and im still using. because i just combined two lines in the pub_for_sum.pl-file (author+date > one single line) i do not have to reslice the backgroundpicture, no i just have to find out how to fix the height again. i made it in 6.01 perfectly after patching, so, just have to find another workaround again *g*... i think it shoudn't be the big deal, but 6.5 is completely new for me and i have to get into hacking files again...
