ok, all i want to know is....how do you make the scroll track color change colors when you hold click on it?
EXAMPLE: look on the scroll here on this page, don't scroll useing the ARROWS or the FACE itself, but just click on the TRACK, you see how it chenges to RED? how do you do that?

I see what you're talking about, but I believe that's a bug, not a feature. We have nothing in our stylesheet that specifies red of any sort, as far as I can tell.

I will forward thread to Allen or Matt, they might be able to tell you differently. But I believe the thing you're trying to get is simply a glitch.

it's magic... you click on the track bar 3 times and say:

"There's no place like home....

There's no place like home....

There's no place like home...."

Then Charles Capps appears and your board is automagically upgraded to 6.1.

Not a virus. Just a bug. Lemme explain a little more:

Contrary to what most people think, the scrollbar in Internet Explorer is, in fact, NOT a real scrollbar. It's actually a proprietary control Microsoft designed to simply look and act like a scrollbar. The reason they did this was to allow you to program custom colors via CSS. Were it a real scrollbar, it would HAVE to be the color specified in your Windows color scheme settings. But since it's not technically a scrollbar, they can allow you to change it's color to match your webpage.

This concept is similar to the Favorites menu in IE, the Windows Start menu, and all the menus in Microsoft Office - they're actually just custom controls designed to look and act like menus. Normally the order of items in real menus are specified in the programming, but since these aren't menus, you're able to resort every option in them to your liking, and MS's menu personalization feature can detect which menu items you click most often and move those up closer to the top of the menu.

I'm sure that was way more explanation than you really wanted ;), but suffice it to say that since it isn't technically a scrollbar, there are bound to be some slight differences in the way it functions, and one of those happens to be a little bug that causes the red track color on mousedown. GO to any other site where they specify custom scrollbar colors and you'll probably see the same thing. (Speaking of which, if you just specify custom scrollbar colors via CSS, yours will probably do the same thing. Only downside is that it will always be red, no matter what other colors you specify.)

Skorp,

You are starting to sound like a real expert with that explanation.
