name: compact footers description: neatens the area on the bottom of each page. specifically, the copyright / contact us area, placing everything inside a 1 row, 3 column table that is styled like the rest of your forum tables. demo: booyah! requirements: a personal copyright line (if you dont have one, do what every site out there does and make one up! ). it works on v6.3-6.5, and possibly even older versions. disclaimer: im notta hacker! i'm not even smart! this code could be awful and work only via coincidence. dont blame me if your board crashes, server explodes, computer melts, boss fires you, family betrays you, ex girlfriend finds you, or car wont start.**** in public_common.plfind:
replace with:
save. upload. wash. rinse. repeat. clear cache. badda boom!

DK, there is something weird happening on a 6.3.1.1. with this nice hack. First of all, the Footer codes in a 6.3.1.1 public_common look like this:
second, I changed this:
</pre></div></div>with yours:<br>
but I only get the compact headers on some pages,ie: calendar, statistics, PM Inbox..etc, but not on the Forum summary and Forum Pages.
Suggestions? URL HERE
Thank you, Felix

Hmm...I can't say unless you are using a different Style Template for the pages that the Compact Footer is not working. Go into your CP and look under Template Associations in Style Templates. Along with the $Footer that you edited in public_common.pl file, you may also need to edit "sub StandardHTML" and "sub StandardHTML2". For these I couldn't use $Footer. Instead I had to enter the actual footer code in those two spots. While I did my own Footers the concept should be the same as with drkknght's.

Hi Prime I obvioulsly checked that before I hailed for help, there is only one Template I use. Furthermore, something very strange, I cant change the template of Statistics since I did the $Footer modifications! However, I tryed to edit the Footer info for Sub Standard but I am not sure I did it right. What did you mean when you said : quote: For these I couldn't use $Footer. Instead I had to enter the actual footer code in those two spots. what and where exactly I should add? I appreciate your help, as always. Felix

I don't know why the Compact Footer would interfere with the Statistics template...It shouldn't since it doesn't touch any code of the Stats file. Odd. As for the "sub StandardHTML" sections I think inside the original sub sections the "$Footer" was in place. When I made my edits (now this was back in January) the "$Footer" didn't respond...Meaning that whatever edits I did with the primary "$Footer" code didn't work with the "sub StandardHTML" codes. So in the sub sections I had to take out the symbol "$Footer" and replace it with the entire Footer (raw) code (e.g., table, tr, td...).

Prime Time, can you help me get this working? I really like the way it looks, unfortunatelly I tried everything I could, I turned public_common upside-down, inside-in, I cant get it working. It only works on some pages, but not on summaru=y and others. Here, this is my public_common.pl Thanks you, again Felix

Felix - Your public_common.pl file doesn't have the Compact Footer added?
dennislam - Check to see if you left your original $Footer code. If so then just replace it with drkknight's modified code.

No, that is the good file. It didnt owrk properly ( it only showed on some pages) and I took it out.
I gave you the original so you can tell me where and what should I add. I am aware this is a 6.5 Thread and I am using 6.3.1.1 but drkknght said it would work on any version.
any help?
