I downloaded Slurpee's News Fader hack and the row shows up, but the actuall fader don't.

Also... when i access the page.. it says:

Error on line blah blah
do you wish to debug?

please help!

also... i'd like to know if there is a non beta version of the news fader hack.... coz Slurpee's is the beta! Please help!

Check the coding. Its a JS error so make sure you uploaded the JS file in ASCII

MM I have uploaded in ascii & redone this hack 5 times I still get "FDRMAX Loops Undefined" & syntax errors" about 22 of them on my page.

gene1938, your Control Panel -> General Settings -> News Fader has ""test","" but it's supposed to be "test",""
Angelic, your noncginewsfader.txt doesn't exist. Upload it.

LK thanks for the reply --- still no joy upto 32 errors on page load, syntax & FDRMAX Loops undefinded.
Any Ideas as to where I messed up? Could any of my other hacks be affecting it?

Still having FDRMax Loops Undefined error look to me that, it is in the FADER.JS file,or in the way it is called in the public_forum_summary.pl and syntax errors.

I have tried this mod with 6.03 and 6.04B same result

mine's fixed and sorted.... though i could've sworn i did upload those files!

ah well...

Here is the code generating the error
FDRfinite = (FDRmaxLoops > 0); is the line that comes up in the debuger for IE 5.5, as "FDRmaxLoops Undefined"

I am having the same problem and have posted in the forum but no answers, LK is there a chance you might be able to help me out?? I really want to add this mod......... Here is what I posted; Okay this is yet another one of those hacks that I try over and over until I finally figure it out. does that mean tht I have a wayward "[" with no mate somewhere? or I overwrote one some where?? In Public_Forum_Summary.pl I found this but it looks right to me.....

I went through all four Modded files and Searched for a lonely "[" and to no
avail..... gettin frustrated.......

Hypnotizer, I had much the same problem, Clear your cache in the control panel Go to your CP and edit your Newsfader, ie turn it on etc (if you haven't already) and then make sure that any message in the newsfader is between quotes just like this " blah blah blah","" (exactly like that) save it and then check it....... Lets see how that works. if it does you have LK to thank, he responded when no one else would and helped me figure this thing out....... Crossing my fingers for you

Now I get a big forbidden, cannot look at your site at all....... The thing that worked for me was starting with known good copies of the files in question and rehacking. Also make sure that you uploaded all the files to the right directories (had one in the wrong one myself)...... :rolleyes:
