I apologize if this is a dupe, I searched and couldn't find anything.

I just moved my boards to a new server (UNIX -> UNIX). I had done 3 mods by hand-- Who's Online, one to edit out the space under the dashed line in sigs, and Custom Status/Rank. Perhaps because I'm somewhat of a newbie to this, and not a programmer, I just assumed that transferring over all the copies of the exact same files with the right permissions would mean the mods would be installed on my boards on the new server. Not so.

The line taken out mod still works, but Who's Online and Custom Status/Rank do not. I'm not getting any error messages as if they weren't installed correctly, they're just not showing up. The one odd thing however, is that now no one has ranks by their name-- it just shows member number. Not Admin, Mod, or the 2 members statuses. Just username and member #.

Can anyone give me insight into why this happened? It is a well-known fact that this newbie missed that when you move a board, you have to re-install your mods? Is there something simple I'm missing?

Thanks for any help!

( My boards are here , btw. Don't mind the IP, we're still switching.)

It could be that the you need to reconfigure those two hacks via the CP. I'm not sure about who's online but the Custom Staus hack needs the absolute paths to stuff, and you may have them wrong right now...

I'll have to check again, but I'm nearly positive the location of perl is the same. And otherwise, if it wasn't, my board wouldn't be running at all since when I moved it I didn't have to change the perl path in any of the other files. They're not showing up as options in the Control Panel at all-- the CP looks as if I never installed them.

I'll snoop back through the instructions and see if I come up with anything...

Edited to add that I looked at the Templates files that both mods require changes to, and they don't appear to have the changes I originally did. I don't really know how that's possible, since I copies the pages right off the server onto my hard drive, then right onto the new one. I'll have to investigate when I get home and have all those files in front of me for comparison.
