Ok I have a little InfoPOP BB that has grown to 3000 users in over a year talking about horses so this IS a big deal, respectively speaking. I have been on 5.45b for a year, then tried to update to 5.47d and have troubles.
From reading these forums I am VERY scared to update to version 6.X based on the server requirements. I got booted from my local ISP, then from another websit ehost company then finally found my way to tera-byte.com .. and I haven't received one email from them about server loading issues. So why would I want to rock the boat?? Because my biggest competitor is a horse magazine and they are on OpenTopic and have features i don't have.

So..can anyone "sell" me on the upgrade at this time? Anyone on tera-byte.com using version 6.X have any problems with server loading? They say they have infopop BBs running with 60,000 members so they shouldbe able to handle little ol' me right?

Also I have WebAdverts integrated into my UBB (yes I did figure it out!) which required me to insert a custom java code into four files to be seen where you would normally see the UBBTitle image;
Ultimate.cgi
ForumDisplay.cgi
Posting.cgi (also Edit.cgi)
ubb_library2.pl (which creates the html files)

How can I do the same in version 6.x? PLEASE! This is what supports the website, and I have worked hard to get an advertisers program started..I can't loose ground.

I want to integrate the BB into a format I can use for the whole site. How can I do this? I use Macromedia dreamweaver so using a template would be ideal. At the min...how can I do something like https://www.ubbdev.com/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi? and have the banner at the topic be the same through out my other areas fo the site?

How does the move from 5.4X to 6.X go as far as bringing along the topic files??? I have ot keep my site pruned at 6 months to stay under 500 MB of storage. Will 6.X help in this regard?

I'm sweating thinking about "disturbing" the exisiting BB..but I need to upgrade or at least keep pace with my competition.

well i cant say anything for the server usage issues, but as for the other questions...

you can put a custom header in a field in the display settings of the control panel in 6.xx, and it will be displayed on every page, so in that respect it is much better/easier then 5.xx.
as for the topic files, well they stay pretty much the same sizewize and all. pruning features are about the same i think, but dont quote me on that one smile. i think the move to 6.xx is a wise one, but i would wait a week or two (fingers crossed) and do the upgrade when version 6.1 comes out. one would hope that they are addressing some of the server usage "issues" in that forthcoming version...
