Has anybody successfully installed ELY_M's Upload Hack on an NT server and got it working? I cannot get it to work.
The upload popup page appears fine, but after I click the upload button, I get a CGI error that tells me permission denied in creating a CGI tempfile. I have tried every possible permission combination for the /uploads directory, as well as the two upload cgi files.
Also, I have a question with the configuration settings in Miscellaneous Settings. How should the directory be entered?
c:inetpubwwwrootforumcgi-binuploads or c:/inetpub/wwwroot/forum/cgi-bin/uploads or /inetpub/wwwroot/forum/cgi-bin/uploads or etc, etc, etc.
Seems like the hack will only work on unix platforms. Any help would be appreciated.

I wish it worked on mine. I really do. I've pulled my hair out for a week. I get this error: Have you, or anybody else, encountered this? I'm running Win 2000 Server/IIS5. [ July 23, 2001 03:40 PM: Message edited by: Dino ]

Could other hacks interfere with this working properly? I have several installed: Print Page, Memberlist, Calendar (v 1.4), AIMICQ, Hitcounter, Last Username to Post, Rate Topic, Who's online (v 3.8), Statistics Hack, and Nameglow (my first dumb one).
I have also given FULL Control to IUSR for the upload.cgi, upload_form.cgi, and /uploads directory, and it still doesn't work.
Is there something special I'm supposed to do with the /uploads folder like web share it, or allow directory browsing? I'm at such a loss.

I think the upload hack works better on unix servers.
you are not only one who have problems with the hack if you are running it on win 2000 and IIS 5.
Please download LK's fixed version that he modified my hack to make it work better and see if it works better.

Thanks for replying. I will try that tonight, when I get home from work.
I'll keep my fingers crossed... I hope it works.

ELY_M and LK. Uploading files to a bulletin board is an awesome thing. I've used a mod similar to this on the 5.47 version, and it worked like a charm. Unfortunately, this version just isn't compatible with NT and IIS. It's a bummer. I'm just so used to using UBB with CGI/Perl that I've been reluctant to "switch" over to one of the other bulletin boards that are better tailored for NT - ASP, PHP, SQL, etc (Snitz, vbulletin, etc). Makes me sad. I'm just going to give up on this. However, if there's anyone else that's running NT/IIS, and HAS gotten this to work, I'd like to talk to you. I have full administrative control of the server (it's mine), so I can change permissions any time. [ July 29, 2001: Message edited by: Dino ]

As I already told you, I'm running my board on IIS 5.
Maybe you should change the first line in ubb_upload.cgi to "#!/usr/bin/perl".
