Hi guys, I want to finally upgrade...my V5 has become very dodgy, I lose about 6 member accounts a week at least. So, on to V.6...anyway, my V5 is a quite heavily hacked board - http://tropicalfish.site5.com/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi ...and I tested it out on my PWS - it totally screwed with the avatar hack...instead of the normal member name ("Rich"), I got the URL of the choosen avatar, its really messed it up royally. And of course, I cant go back to CP of the V5 and turn off the avatar, so it looks like i would be stuck frown

But im still going to do it, i think....is there any other hack that i must turn off before hand? I have so many...Thanks guys....

You can't have any hacks on your v6 you need to loose them all. What you need to do is upload all your v6 files and install like normal and port your topics and Member files onto the v6 and then your finished really. There is a readme at infopop.com on how to do this.

Hmmm....I couldnt manually remove the hacks, just got too many...would it be possible to download a raw 5.45c download, and upload the scripts to my cgi-bin (minus the variables of course)?

Actually, there is a way to get around this but it aint easy. You must edit every member file and remove the offending avatar url. Then re upload every file you edit and clear the cache.

If you have a lot of members it aint worth it,it takes ages. You are better off just doing what lord dexter said.

Rich9,

There's a script inside the Chit Chat directory created by CopyCat which strip away all extra Member fields so that the upgrade to UBB 6 will occur flawlessly. Infopop also has its own script and you can request it from them to help you upgrade cleanly.
