How come I see at some UBB's where people have there names like this:
*blahname* or whatever with *'s in them
Now at my ubb when someone registered with a * in there name and posted it messes up the topic and I get a error. Any idea why it does this on my board and not on others?

What I think is that * are not allowed in Usernames when you register but somehow that member got passed registering. I have tried registering with ~'s and it doesn't work. So thats my idea....

Well at my ubb I have now banned symbols like that using the nick ban hack but when I ban them I have to put like
*
&
Otherwise the registeration gets all messed up and you can't register o_0;;..I think pretty soon I'm going to have to start with a fresh copy of ubb again lol.

Was this before or after it happened? I thought the * symbol was banned from usernames even without the Nickban.

I don't think it's banned before the nickban b/c at this one ubb I go to they have people with names like *blah blah* or ~*Blah*~ and they can post perfectly o_o;;.

Maybe they have Nickban installed and allowed those symbols. I once tried to register a name with ~ at the first symbol and it didn't allow it.
