I am using version 5.45c french version. I installed the smilies.cgi hack. Everything looks good, I am able to update the database from the cp panel.. Problem is, smilies.html was non existant, so I created it in my non cgi directory and chmod it to 777 but it remains empty after all new additions. Can someone tells me what I did wrong?

Do you follow the instructions exactly when you add a new icon?

I sure do... the smilies get added correctly and I see them in the snapshot. In the view icons mode from cp, a popup opens with smilie name and image... but nothing on smilies.html. And image on popup is not clickable. When someone is posting, there is alink that came with UBB (because it is in French and I did not placed it). That link calls for a definition of smilies. That is how I found out that I was missing smilies.html because that link was not opening anything. Now that I have manually created smilie.html, I just do not know how to write on it... Maybe it is a bug from French version, since they were referring to it and was not there?

With the smiles hack you need to change any reference ro the smiles.html code to smilies.cgi
For example the smiles ledgend when you post a message

I get the smilies names and the images. Shoouldn't it be the codes and the images?

Okay mate, for a start, give me the web address and let me check it out exactly what you mean. I have just added this hack to my board so hopefully I can help. Don't worry about the smilies.html file as it is not relevant to this hack. It's merely a legend for the users to check. For the icons to appear here, you are going to have that page manually.
