Nice to see this wasn't canned fully. Been awhile since I've posted, greets to all new members.
Question for all vets and those who know UBB very well (including hacks).
Is there a way to FORCE a particular subject if you create a HREF tag to the postings.cgi?
IE, somehow edit this line in the HREF tag
postings.cgi?action=newtopic&number=1&forum=General+Discussions&DaysPrune=365&LastLogin=
Can I put a &Subject=forced_subject_name in that HREF tag link?
What I want to do is have a direct COMMENT link from my news page, which when users clicked on it would send them directly into UBB and post a message under the COMMENT FORUM with a subject of "News Comment".
Any insight on this would be too awesome.
Thanks again,
p2k

You could try "Slash UBB" or Turbanators "Announcements Commenting hack"

Thanks Spawn, but looking at both of these hacks is not what I want. I do not want to have to post news in my forums, I just want a link from the front page to send a comment to the forums with a forced subject. So when they post a comment, the subject is already entered for them, nothing more.
I'll keep looking.

I think your best bet would be to save the new topic page for that forum, and make the changes you want. Upload that page to your server and link to it..

Worked around it by creating a seperate postings.cgi file and editing the .cgi subject entry line with value="News Comment". Works like a charm now.
