E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G (All variable files/CGI/Member Profiles/NonCGI, except for threads which isn't as important)
It's better to be safe then sorry...

I just tarball my members directory, ubbcgi directory and my ubb threads directory. Then they can be easily extracted using tar which will restore all the directory structure, file permissions etc...
I can't afford a good signature editor

I make backups regularly but they get bigger and bigger.
Isn't it so that you don't need to backup the HTML files but just the .cgi files in the noncgi dir. Can't you restore your HTML-files with the ubb/forum1/*.cgi files?
I believe so...
