My host's server chmod all new files and folders 644. This is a problem for new data base files for private messages..
Right now theres nothing in the private.pl or anywhere else that will change the chmod.
I have manually changed them, but the server is running a cron and for some reason sometimes they are changing back to 644... my host says its not the server doing it & theres nothing he can do. Is there a way I can have the cgi chmod these files?

Yes you sould write a small cgi or shell script to execute a chmod command and run it as a cron job every X minutes/hours, its ugly but it should work.
I can't afford a good signature editor

That must suck, Anyway won't the CHmod stay the same when you CHmod the file through your FTP?
