I have a few members that are unable to send or reply to PMs. Their usernames only contain letters (no spaces, etc).
The one member in particular that I am working with to resolve the issue is a moderator - she has told me that she gets a 500 internal server error whenever she tries to send or reply.
I am running version 5.47e with various hacks installed. I have been running PM3.8 for awhile, but have just not had time to fix this issue. It works great for all but about three members (we have 600 members).

Ok...
For the PM Problem: There is another thread not too far down the page on this topic, your answer might be in there.
About the 500 error:Check your CHmod's for postings.cgi are on 755 and also, do you have the Smilie CP hack installed?

I've had the same problems.. I would manually change chmod to 666 on the db files then a day or so later they would changed back to 644.. I found out that my host has a cron tab chowning files to 644...This could be your problem as well.. all I did to fix this was add chmod code in the privsend, privread etc files...so each time a user uses the pm feature it will update the files being used.. good luck
