Sheez, I should start a thread called 'trin's board problems!' and just post there! shocked

I just got word from a poster that he tried to delete his own post [he is not a mod] - the board told him that he wasn't authorized [which he shouldn't be], but deleted the post anyway. Another poster has had that happen to him also. This is a very bad thing, since in my general settings I have User Editing set to Yes, but don't allow them to delete.

How might I fix this? smile

Thats strange. It might have been one of your hacks but you don't know when this problem started.

You can't do that, He has hacks that edit that file and if he up's a new one the other hacks will stuff up. The problem would be with postings.cgi too.

Ahh it's in the edit.cgi file then. The only hack I installed that messed with edit.cgi was the very last one I put in, so I'll try from there, see if that does anything. Or I'll just let users delete posts! :eek

Thanks for your help. laugh

I'm a she btw...

No offense taken at all. laugh

The hack was Track Topic You Did Not Post, as far as I can remember, but for the life of me I don't understand why that would mess with edit.cgi. Maybe my memory circuits are frying.

However, the weirdest thing is this - I have a regular user account at the UBB I administer, for testing and stuff, and when I tried replicating the above bug using that name, it didn't work for me that way! I posted, tried to delete it [still under the 'Member' username], it told me that only forum leaders may delete posts, and the post did not get deleted.

Riddle me that! eek laugh
