OK -- apparently something's up with the newstrip.cgi script and it's not working properly. How do I bump maxmems as the work around so that I can proceed with the upgrade? I am moving from 5.39a to 6.1.0.2 and need to get it finished today.

Where in the world is maxmems??

Thank you!
Marianne

I found a place that said maxmems was supposed to be in ubb_library.pl. Searching that file does not turn up that variable anywhere in the 5.39a version of ubb_library.pl -- any other ideas where to look?

(do I sound crazed yet?)

I can't get 5.39a now, but in 5.47e it's in ubb_library.pl line 12 ('$maxmemfields = 14; # = 15 max fields for member data'), and in 6.1.0 it's in ubb_lib_files.cgi.

5.39, IIRC, doesnt have maxmemfields variables. And, IIRC, you change it in ubb_lib.cgi if your upgrading...

It is difficult, if not impossible to diagnose problems with UBB™ without a full URL to your board. If its private, you can PM me for review.

Thanks!

Newstrip is only needed if you have extra profile fields in your UBB. Otherwise, upgrading is painless, tho you may wanna upgrade to 5.47e before moving up to 6.1.0.2. I believe the 6.1 upgrade process looks for files not included in 5.39 installations (date.pl, a few others). Increase the maxmem field in ubb_library.pl to whatever number profile fields you have, then upload 5.47e files and re-set/re-build general settings.

You can also use this file to strip extra profile fields:
https://www.ubbdev.com/hacks/deletehacklines.txt
Rename it to deletehacklines.pl, upload in ascii to your ubb cgi directory and set its permissions to 755.

Upgrading should be painless then.
