So it means it works when there is/isn't cache. Rehack ubb_lib.cgi/ubb_lib_files.cgi!

Found a major bug, probably fixed it. Upload the new ubb_msg.cgi.

Lk,
Any idea if you will add the functionality of a little instant message window so that it will be more real time?

[My english is not the best one ] Hi LK, i have a problem with your hack. When I became a IM, the sendername it's not the name, who send me the IM! Why??? (we've tested this). A other problem is, that my name displayed on the .../ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=msg are 2 times (or more). Greetz Tom

Oops, blame my 'fix' Updated. Also, I've added a new Wordlet. Please overwrite vars_wordlets_im.cgi or atleast copy & paste the im_no_pntf line.

I am testing this on an internal site under development and seem to be having an issue. If I am sent an IM while composing a reply or new thread, then go to Submit what I am composing, I will get a "Sorry. Your password is incorrect" message. Then after doing some diagnosing, I realized what is happening is that the users profile who's sending the IM will overwrite the receiving users profile. If you are not composing anything, IM'ing works fine (It's a beautiful sight )...This is on a 6.1 board. Can some other people test this? Though I do not know the specifics this kind of seems to make sense...if you are going to post something then have this thing waiting for you, it could interfere? And I'm pretty sure who's online or this hack deals with the members directory Thanks for hearing me out. LK, you do great work

Positive...Downloaded the current IM.ZIP earlier and rehacked for 6.1. Did it fix it on your 6.2 board?
I have not tested yet but I wonder if this would happen if I was sent a Chat invitation while composing, too
Yep, same thing happens with chat invitations

I'm running this on a board that isn't getting much traffic yet. I did the update yesterday but haven't had a chance to see if that is happening.

Sure...here it is; newest version of the file and re-hacked for 6.1. Also, I had to change the SCRIPT tags since this board doesn't allow them -- I changed them to 'non-script'.

Yeah...I have another developer here send me an IM while posting, Submit what I'm posting, then get a
FYI Sorry, the password you entered is not correct. then I check the members directory and see my profile overwrote. Restore from backup.
I realize you didn't make this for 6.1 though..just lettin ya know it still happens here. I'll see if XPeRT is on his board later too then maybe me and him can test on his board. shrug

Well, I was posting like mad while you were there (in the private forums) and everything seemed okay. I got the last IM you sent during my spamfest.

Did you get any IM's DIRECTLY after posting? You would have got the IM before even seeing the post you had just made. I only sent 2 IM's and I didn't think you were posting during either of them (I kept checking Who's Online details)? Sorry to be a skeptic, it just doesn't make sense that it would work on yours and not mine. Apparently my UBB_MSG.CGI is fine..and this was a 'documented' issue, so it doesn't add up.
Anyone else got this running on 6.1 that can specifically test this behavior?

XPerT, actually he's got a point You shouldn't be getting this IM if you created a new post I don't know how does it do it, but I'll just disable check_ims if you post... Sounds reasonable to me!

Thanks LK And, actually, I just tested on his board using 2 accounts and 2 computers. . and it DID go through fine! He's on 6.1.0.4 and i'm on 6.1.0.2. Very odd. XPeRT, did you change all 11 user_profiles or just the 8 that were updated in the ZIP file?

Okay, I rehacked ubb_lib_files, and someone sent me an IM but all I got was a blank white screen. When I went back to the summary page it was okay but everythread I tried to go into gave me a blank white screen. I reuploaded the backup file and the board worked again but I had to clear the cache first.
I have a feeling I hacked the file wrong...lemme try again.

Alright...I made the changes to ubb_lib_files.cgi and still get the problem. But I think I might actually have some insight towards this. You made it so it disables sending the user an IM if they are posting, right? Well, I can still send an IM even if they are posting. So, I decided to test out the 'Disable' feature not sending any IM's or anything. . just going to the IM page and trying to disable sending IM's to me. And after I do this, and try to go to any page on the board, I get a FYI No member profile found for member number: 'disable' This then fixes itself if I re-login (which makes sense cause I figure the 'Disable' resets with each session) Did you ever test your disable feature, XPeRT? I'm guessing this has to do with a difference between 6.1 and 6.2. And since you don't run 6.1 anymore (LK), I doubt you could easily figure out the difference (or can you? ). Sorry if this is a pain in the ass, LK...I'd actually be willing to pay you some money for your troubles. [ 01-16-2002 12:12 PM: Message edited by: Soul Survivor ]

Hmmmm, I getting the blank white screen whenever someone sends me an IM now, and I have to clear the cache to get rid of it...
I'm not sure what I did wrong, I may have to rehack the whole thing.

That's odd, it checks if the message[0] is NOT disable. I found a bug though, 'disable' should've NEVER been restarted but it is... Just a sec... But again, you shouldn't have gotten the message you got

Fixed the 'disable' bug, rehack ultimatebb.php and use the new ubb_msg.cgi. I still dunno why it replaces profiles.

I fixed my white screens, it seems that "add below" and "replace" are two seperate commands...
Okay, I make errors now and then. I don't seem to be having the profile problem so I'm gonna leave it as is right now.

XPeRT have you tested the disable feature? And would you be willing to send me your ubb_msg.cgi? I'm pretty sure everything's hacked right here, but since you're not having the profile problem, I'd like to just do a "diff" on your ubb_msg and mine. Send it to if you don't mind. Thanks.

I figured it out!! WOoohoooo!
In my ubb_lib_files.cgi, for the chat hack, I had
&RequireCode["$vars_config{CGIPath}/ubb_chat.cgi"]; $invitehtml = &check_invites; $ThisHTML =~ s//$invitehtml/;
But above that, for the IM hack, there is
if [$ThisHTML && $ThisHTML =~ m//] { &RequireCode["$vars_config{CGIPath}/ubb_msg.cgi"]; $imhtml = &check_ims; $ThisHTML =~ s//$imhtml/; }
So basically...it would evaluate that, and define $ThisHTML, but then the lines after that, redefined $ThisHTML. . so I commented out the 3 chat lines and it works!
Now my question is, since I figure I need those chat lines I commented out for chat invitations, how can I rewrite those without them interfering? Should they be in a different place?
BTW, I changed the ()'s to []'s so I could post this. And the reason XPeRT didn't have this issue is because he is using eChat on his board. I imagine anyone using both your chat and IM hack have this problem.
