I hacked around with v5.47 and made some changes which allowed me to add in a new custom user title when posts exceeded a certain level. I also changed the code so that I could modify these titles and also the number of posts required for this title via the control panel, however when I upgraded to V6 recently, these mods were lost.

I then decided to re-write the mod for version 6 and document the changes I made and hopefully get some feedback from you guys with suggestions for improvements.

Basically the mod will...

  • Allow 5 different levels of 'custom title' to be defined
  • Allow the admin to setup how many posts are required for each title.
  • Allow changing of these titles and posts required easy through the misc page in the control panel.

Although this script allows you to setup 5 extra titles, this could easily be amended to show more or less titles as you require, its all fairly self-explanatory.

Have a look at the script here .

The stars hack does the same thing mate, but with stars

to take the stars out if u dont want them, just take out the variable that puts them in

I have created for you, an Owl. It is a good Owl. It is The Owl. You will view The Owl, and you will be taken in. The Owl will rule your feeble minds.

How would I edit this script to give one of the new titles admin status? I would like to have a title for myself called Webmaster, with full admin privileges and another called Administrator with full admin privileges.

Thanks in advance!

Well Club, I'd suggest that if it is only going to be you who has the title 'webmaster' then I would recommend just amending the code in ubb_lib.cgi and returning a $custom_title of 'Webmaster' whenever it encounters one of your own posts.

I think there has been something like this posted already on the boards.

Isn't this the same thing that the hack Qasic did for 6.x, that Jimbo did for 5.x? Check the "Customer user titles" thread... the hack works great.

well,

maybe someone can help me! i've instaled this hack on my UBB (6.04e), but on the control panel something is wrong! When i enter the "Number of posts required for customised status descriptions" and click on submit, everything seems to be OK, but when i REenter to see "miscellaneous settins" the numbers i've written there, doesn't appear! (ALL BLANK)

Can anyone help ?

thanks ppl smile

P.S- I've reinstaled this hack a few times, everything seems to be OK!
