This is a simple little hack to fix a simple little problem.

What it does: Every board has users who reply to Private Messages via email. (I have done it myself) Because the board is configured to use the contact email address as the "from" field in the private message notifications, administrators receive those accidental replies.

This hack allows you to set up a different email address in the General Display settings of the control panel. (NOTE: This hack won't work for everyone. Use it ONLY if you have more than one email address from your domain). Then, an autoresponder can be set up to handle replies to this email address.

Sounds like an ok temporary solution. Ive talked to the UBB guys and hopefully upcoming versions will have a way to disable all this crap so that when people receive PM notifications they have to come to your board to receive it. From there, when they reply, they reply to a PM.

Having people go from your board to email each other defeats the purpose of building traffic to your website.

This doesn't send them to email. It simply means that I don't have to deal with the accidental replies. An autoresponder tells them to go to the board to reply.

Until Infopop allows us to keep copies of sent messages, I am glad they send the whole message in the email. Otherwise, I would have no record of some conversations.
