I had a member flooded the topic till it gets to 2 pages long. There is same problem occured

I have better idea to the solution.

go in your control panel and go in to Primary Display Settings then

change the Maximum Number of Posts Displayed Per Topic Page to No maximum per page.

It did solved my problem.

that isn't a good solution eigther,
when i topic gets a lot of replies than it take a long time to load it!


Can someone please tae a look at this hack and see what the prob is?

is this topic dead or something?
nobody is replying to the probs.

i have the same problem.

i cleared the cache but the hidden texts sometimes shows as hidden and but often become visible without replying it. for some posts, it works, but not others.

i installed who's online, hithack w/ who's online and others. any help would be great.

my guess is that it has something to do w/ who's online or hithack scripts.

To correct the problem for the hidden message when you have 2 pages or more....
Work great on my board ;0)
E@sy, if the code is ok for you, you can upgrade your hack with it.

Open ubb_lib_posting and find:

and in the long line:local($forum_number, $topic_number, etc etc..... look for @postinfo and beside this add:@mypostinfo


Find:

right after add:

Replace by:

fyi, my problem is different from the 2-pages stuff.

mine is that it sometimes hides it but it often becomes visible without any reply.

when i clear the cache, it becomes normal. but the problem comes back and happens again and again.

to cope with it, i am clearing cache every day. but it's not a good solution.

hope u can solve this bug.

The problem is fixed when you turn ubbcaching off.

when you done that, than the 2 pages prob will be there, and that can be fixed with astro's solution

Turning cache off is one solution, but
as you konow, it's not the best solution.

i hope e@asy would come up with some better trick to
make it work even with cache on.

reason why making cache off is not a good solution is that
it makes who's online and hithack on forum pages dissappear.

i.e. with cache off, ubb can't read cache of who's online bar and hithack (1.12) on forum pages.
so, there's no who's online and hithack on forum pages.
(although they are visible on the forum SUMMARY page).

i know that turning caching of isn't the best solution, but for now it solves the prob,
and about the wol and hit hack, they both still work on my board with caching turned off

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn`t....but clearing the cache sorts it out temporarily !

i have build the hack in without errors.
But if i write [hide]blah [/hide] nothings matters.
I see my original text with the hide.
Ok im not alone with the error but i havent seen some way to kill the error.

hidden texts are visible on the daily topics page.

that hack is definately one of the usefullest outta there i would say...
but i got a little problem with it too...
can anyone in here help me and tell me how to make that hack happen automated too..
like if someone posts an ip that it automaticly add the codes without letting the poster to change it too...

Hi all!

I've made some changes for this Message-Hide-Hack. You all know the problem with the cached Forum pages. User 1 posts a new Topic with a hidden Text inside. After that user 2 opens the Topic and will see the whole Text, not the message "This message contains hidden text... bla bla".
The reason for this is, that the whole page is stored in a so called cached-file. The cachefiles are stored in plain html-text because it is faster to display a stored (cached) file than to build the page on the fly.
Now we have the problem that UBB automaticly builds the cached message file when this file does not exist (and of course UBB is configured to use the build-in cache-system).
User 1 postst the message and because he's the owner of the message he will see the plain text, not the "This message contains hidden text... bla bla" and UBB generates the cache file with the plain text at this point!

Now, here is the workaround for our cache-problem:

file to modify: ubb_get_topic.cgi (cgi-bin-directory)

locate this:

that's all!!!

This code first test if there is a an existing cached file. Than it looks for the typical "plain-hide-text". And if a quoted "Hide:" is found the cached file is NOT read and the page is build from scratch.

nice workaround! but i was wondering if there is a way you can take out the code thing soo it will just display text after you repley without code thing

No the link is NOT down! Its located on our server (www.fireboard.net) and our server is still running. I've checked it a few mins ago and i could d/l the file. You may right click on the link and use the "Save as" function.

What do you mean with "picture before and after"? Do you want to know how a hidden text looks like before and after replying? If so, you should have a look at the end of the instruction file. I worte down how it will look like. An example is there!

Hi! What about Today's Active Topics?? Users can view all hidden code visiting Today's Active Topics. It's really bad..

yep, this is what I was talking about.

If you want to try by yourself, start a
new thread with the following message,
"[hide]test[/hide]". Nothing else.

Then, logoff, and login with another user account.
Check the active topics page. Boom! there you can
view the hidden texts WITHOUT replying.

If there are long texts before the hide tag,
then, the hidden texts don't become visible
on the Today's Active Topics Page, because
the Active Topics page only shows the
beginning of each message. But this isn't a
good solution.

Please fix this bug, because it negates the
whole purpose of this hack!
