Qasic, I've ran into a weird problem. I've reinstalled the hack twice, and it didn't fix the problem. My first Forum is a private forum. Whenever some user is in another forum, they appear in the Private forum under the User Online: This Forum Only! area, even though the WOL page says they are in a diffrent forum. At first I though maybe it is a problem with private forums, but I went into another private forum and it didn't happen, even though my First Forum was doing it at the exact same time. I'm running 6.04e, and my UBB is at http://www.starfleetplatoon.com/BB/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

Do you have any clue of what is going on? Here are some screen shots. This happens even with Guests.

qasic, I started to run the auto install and I had to CHMOD alot of files to 777. So I did and on ultimatebb it stopped at line 4 and said I had to hack it myself. So I did, and I hacked the rest of the files myself as well. Then I did the install templates and that worked fine for the most part. Everything in the CP is fine, but when I go to the board I get a:

Software error:
Execution of /home/awgxcom/public_html/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi aborted due to compilation errors.
For help, please send mail to the webmaster ([email protected]), giving this error message and the time and date of the error.

The ultimatebb file that was supposed to come in the WOLBackup is also already hacked for some reason...

Anyway I'm positive I hacked correctly, I checked over a couple of times. Do you know the prob?

Hiya Sonic,

That bug was fixed a few days ago in v4.1.0a smile What it was that it was filtering the forums wrong. People browsing in forum1 would include people from forum14, forum2 from forum20.

When UBB 6.1 comes out gold, that problem should go away when you install the new WOL. If the problem is of immmediate concern though, please give me a shout and I'll give you the correct Perl code to fix it.

The Fonz,

Go to a previous ultimatebb.cgi that was saved before WOL was activated and hack the file as listed inside the Whos_Online_Readme.txt Then upload this file.

Well I did that, but I still get the same error. And I don't understand why, I checked the Pearl path in ubb whos online ssi and changed it to the correct path (before I rehacked) and that didn't help any. I don't have any problems hacking, I find everything fine but for some reason this won't work ( mad mad!!!!). Any ideas?

www.multihack.com is the place to d/l multihack. Anyways, I really think you have a hacking error but hacking errors are notorious to debug without Beyond Comparing to a known good pack of CGI files.

Hello, I tried to install the Who's Online hack. But I am having problems (duh). HEre is what I did

I first installed the Multihack file. (It is a full install). Then I tried to clear the cache and goto ultimatebb.cgi. It said there was a problem including required files, so I looked through the Multi Hack code and found I was missing vars_whos_online.cgi. I read the readme and it said a bunch of stuff about chmodding everything 777 and running an install script. I was wondering why you didn't just include all the needed files in the zip, and in the multihack file. I can't install it viz the script because I keep getting an error when I try to run it. Please find a way to help me out, because I do not want to run an install script on my server. It is a good thing I made a backup before I hacked.

Sonic,

You will need to upgrade to 6.1.

Kaioshin, E-squad:

Restore your directory permissions to what they were before and re-run the install executable.

Hey first off, I would like to say nice hack.

Second, after installing using the Multihack, I kept getting an error with this line:

$replace = $Online_Wording
$Online_Details;

I got a Software error both via the CP settings and clicking on someones name in the Online area. After kicking around for a second, I took the liberty to modify the line to this:

$replace = "$Online_Wording
$Online_Details";

After adding the quotes, everything ran like a champ.

Any ideas why this happened? I haven't seen or read a post in this thread with the same problem.

Thanks!

SERIOUS BUG:

I'm surprised this one got through the net =), but still..

If you 'SSI include' Who's Online into an external HTML page and then go to do some maintanance, you're page is screwed by the 'This forum is temporarily closed..' etc. message and default forum format imposing itself onto the HTML page.

This is very serious if you've got a huge forum that can take hours to re-compile. No I won't move to v6.1 =), it's in buggy beta form and doesn't support half my hacks.

PS"Notice problems with the 'auto install selfish WOL' feature, include manual files and that'll solve some problems =)."

For the gradient bar addition, go to UBB_forum_summmary.cgi and look for this code (WOL 4.0 though) and look for where I added the title_bar_image4.gif. Sorry it's the wrong WOL version but it might help you.

code:
Code

##### Who's online? Code Block by Elliott "Borg" Brady
local($Online_Wording); local($Online_Details); local($replace); local(@nullit);
($Online_Wording, $Online_Details, @nullit) = &GetOnlineUsers($username) unless $in{category};

my $ColSpan = 3;
$ColSpan++ if ($vars_display{ShowMods} eq 'yes');
$vars_display{ForumTotalOption} eq 'Both' ? ($ColSpan = $ColSpan + 2) : $ColSpan++;

$replace = qq~
<tr >
<td colspan="$ColSpan" background="$vars_config{NonCGIURL}/title_bar_image4.gif" >
<a href="$vars_config{CGIURL}/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=whos_online"><FONT SIZE="$vars_style{TextSize}" FACE="$vars_style{FontFace}" COLOR="$vars_style{CategoryStripTextColor}">
<b>$vars_wordlets_mods{whos_online_whos_online}</b></a></font>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td bgcolor="$vars_style{AltColumnColor1}" valign="top" align="center">
<IMG SRC="$vars_config{NonCGIURL}/online.gif">
</td>
<td colspan="6" bgcolor="$vars_style{AltColumnColor2}">
<FONT size="$vars_style{TextSize}" face="$vars_style{FontFace}">
<B><a href="$vars_config{CGIURL}/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=whos_online"><font size="1">
$Online_Wording</font></a>

<FONT size="$vars_style{FDTextSize}">
$Online_Details
</FONT></TD>
</b></font>
~;

rcmodels,
I was also having the same problem successfully registering with qasic.com. Finally I was able to get through, only thing I did different was use my personal email address and not my hotmail address. Just curious Qasic, but do you need an email addy other than webmail to register??

Cheers,

Hiya,

Yeah there are several problems with Hypermart's Sendmail right now which is now forcing me to change hosts.

For now, register with a non-free e-mail address on qasic.com then e-mail me personally to obtain your password.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm having this exact same problem and I'm hoping that you might be able to help me fix it with some additional info. I tried manually hacking and ended up with the same results as with the autohack.

In order to try and get more info on the problem I ran ultimatebb.cgi from the shell and it gave me this:

[Wed Aug 15 21:59:24 2001] ultimatebb.cgi: Global symbol "%vars_wordlets_mods" requires explicit package name at ultimatebb.cgi line 336.
[Wed Aug 15 21:59:24 2001] ultimatebb.cgi: Execution of ultimatebb.cgi aborted due to compilation errors.
Content-type: text/html

Software error:

Execution of ultimatebb.cgi aborted due to compilation errors.

For help, please send mail to this site's webmaster, giving this error message
and the time and date of the error.

Following is line 336 in context of ultimatebb.cgi:

# forum summary
if ($in{f}) {
@whos_online_forum = &GetForumRecord($in{f});
$whos_online_name_of_forum = $whos_online_forum[1];
if ($in{t}) {
$whos_online_exact_path = "Forum$in{f}";
if ($whos_online_forum[6] =~ /private/ig) {
$who_online_subject = $vars_wordlets_mods{whos_online_private_topic}; <<<---- Line 336
} else {
@whos_online_this_topic = &OpenTopic("$in{t}", "$in{f}");
@whos_online_stats = split(/||/, $whos_online_this_topic[0]);
$who_online_subject = $whos_online_stats[4];
undef (@whos_online_forum); undef ($whos_online_exact_path);
undef (@whos_online_stats);
}
} # end $in{t}
} # end $in{f}

I've wracked my brains over this one and can't figure any reason why perl wants to specify an explicit package name for the variable since it has worked just fine without one elsewhere in the code. I suppose I could just satisfy it by doing $main::vars_wordlets_mods, but I want to do it right. Any help you can give me here is greatly appreciated.

Okay, after two days of wracking my brains over this I finally figured out how to fix the problem myself. For others who are still having the problem you need to add %vars_wordlets_mods to one of the use vars lines at the top of the file ultimatebb.cgi.

Man, I hope this one hasn't been said already! LOL

For some reason, the who's online feature is fine on the main page, but then in each forum, it's installed twice!!

Which file do I have to modify to take out the double code?

The mainpage did that too, but then I just edited the public_forum_summary.pl and the following line was added twice:

So I just deleted one of them and so now it's only inside each forum that does it.
Here's one of the forums:

http://www.largelumber.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=2
