If you want to get rid of the 15x15 size, just take out the image width and height tag in the top of public_common.pl.

Nice mod. I just finished installing it on my test board. Not a single problem.

A suggestion: It would be nice to be able to set the smilie popup window width from the CP. Yeah, I know most smilies are tiny, but some might want larger smilie gifs. Since the smilie popup window is not resize-able, big smilies get cropped. Maybe a field for the maximum width of any smilie on your board, and the code would make the smilie popup wide enough so no cropping occurs.

Thanks DKP & Qasik. Beautiful work.

Thanks qasic.

I thought you would know to just take out the width=15 and height=15, not the img tag istelf.

thanx Allen. smile

v0.6 will be released when I return home from school today. 0.6 has really only one new feature in it, but it is a nice one. upgrading will be easy since all the stuff in 0.6 was done in only 3 files.

v0.7 will have alot of big stuff in it. I was going to hold off and put in some more stuff in 0.6, but the things I am going to add rely on a bigger thing in 0.7, so expect 0.7 later this week.

This is a GREAT mod. I spent a while adding these by hand but will go no further until v0.7 (with correct proportioning) comes out!

Good work! I'm watching this thread for v0.7 smile

Just a few, small, questions:

is it possible to include the smilies without showing them in the 'instant graemlin'-table? i would appreciate a link as in ubb5.x with a smiliey-legend (popup-window/dhtml-layer *G*?)and using shortcuts like ''?

Due the fact that we have too many smilies I don't want them to be displayed every time a new message is created.

It would be a very nice feature to include a hidden and drag-and-dropable layer including the smiley-legend which pops up when a user klicks on 'smiliey-legend':
two features: all smilieys are SHOWN or JUST the shortcuts. most of our users know all smilieys already, they just need a text-legend with the shortcuts smile - this would be also very useful to avoid heavy traffic in case that you have 50+ smilieys (animated gifs)...

...just an idea. In case that it's possible to use smilieys without including them in the instant-graemlin-table i'D like to install this beta-script as soon as possible.

regards,
chris

I have fixed alot of problems in v0.7. The code has been cleaned up and sorted in some places, the popup legend now has the ability to be clickable and smilies can be added easily that way. An advanced options set has been created in the cp which lets you define pretty much everything all the way down to the sizes of the smilies themselves. You can even disable that so that smilies arent sized. The new dropdown box feature lets you preview tons of images from a list and then click the smilie that appears and it is inserted.

Much much more too. smile Expect it out today sometime. I hope.

I installed the new version (first time!) about 10 minutes ago and it's amazing! it's such a cool thing, can't believe it... InfoPop should include your source and in future you might open an 'forum.howibecamerich.com'board..? *g* - It's fantastic, thank you... haven't seen ANY bugs/problems yet...

Quick question:

I have installed several smilies on my own thus far by hacking into a few files. Before installing this new hack, do I need to UNDO this, meaning take out all of my new smilies, so I can add them using the Smilie Mod? Or is it okay to leave them there and just add after them?

Bug Found:
I was testing out the advanced settings some more and realized that if you only want to have the dropdown box on, for an odd reason, the box that holds the instant gramelins and the instant ubb code are both removed. If you however set the display to option 4 (off), instant ubb code remains. I probably forgot or made a poor statement in there somewhere. I will fix this in v0.8. I rushed v0.7 and due to its complexity I guess I sorta missed it.

I dunno if it was mentioned before, but in the dropdown menu, when there is "Smilie List" and "------------------------------------" and you click on the empty space, it is being transferred to your post like a smilie.

In the FAQ area named Smilies/Graemlins.

If you click on the link there, it brings up a javascript error. laugh

Also, a quick question for ya...

I'm currently modifying UBB 6.02 offline and getting it to work the best it can before making it live...

I currently have the old smilies hack installed on my live version (5.47e). How would I add all my old smilies back into the new one, without ending up with blank images on all old posts?

For example:

If I configure your smilies version and add all the smilies that I have in preparation for opening ubb 6.02 (in a seperate directory than my live version is right now of course), once I make 6.02 live will those smilies carry over somehow?

I'm worried about all my old posts showing blank images from the changeover from one smiley hack to another?

Does this make sense? I'm so zonked right now. smile

Thanks for any help you can provide!

BTW, 0.7 works EXCELLENT! Good work!

it should work, in theory. i have not tried it, so i cannot confirm it.

btw: thanx for the bug, i will fix it in v0.8

v0.8 will just have minor bug fixes in it, so it wont be a pain to upgrade to.
