Some people tried to get the total posts from the member files but these tries weren't very efficient, so I wrote a hack which displays the total posts and topics on forum home.

edit: It works now even if you have only categories displayed on your forum home and it should be working with mod_perl, now.

So.. This makes it so that... It tells you how many posts are on the forum, or how many are have been made on the forum total, even with pruning and such?

It tells you how posts have been made and how many topics exist on the entire board.

This hack uses existing wordlets, so on my Board the german words are "Beiträge and Themen" instead of "posts and topics".

i pasted that into ubb_forums_summery.cgi from my cgi-bin/ubb directory, nothing shows up on the main page!

i have the ICQ/AIM addon, news fader, Custom font/Glow, please HELP! (i have UBB 6.0)

I tried to make my hacks as simple as possible, the changes you requested would take more code and more work.
But the major problem I see is the mod_perl issue. The only thing I know 'bout it is that all variables have to be declared before using. (oops I forgot that in my EditTime Hack 1.0)
If someone tells me what I have to heed with mod_perl or that this hack shouldn't be compatible with mod_perl, I will try to release another version this week.

TOC, currently I have no idea how to implement New Postings today: 200, but Forums: 20 is possible!

Maybe, I should put it all in a statistik situated at the end of the ubb, part of the forums table!??

Yes, but again remember those of us who use the 'Category Display Only' feature on the main page - we'd also like to see the stats.

Lots of hackers forget about that, things such as the original Who's Online for UBB5 screwed up with cat's only - nobody loves us =).

Yep tovok I understand, I have run into problems trying to incorporate your hack into my News Fader hack, so that's why I asked. Can't seem to use the variables anywhere but where you have them.

Slurpee, can you explain the exact problem with the Newsfader Hack?
But nevertheless I try to make the variables working everythere on form home.

There is still the mod_perl problem! Anyone may tell me what I have to do to make this hack compatible with mod_perl!

If I solved the problem with this hack I will start working on the statistik hack.

Finished, updated the download!

All those who don't want to display only categories on their forum home should stay with the old hack if it's installed already and working as desired.

Tovok - I want to set an option in my News Fader hack to allow people to display the current posts and topics in their forum, so I installed your hack and tried to call the $AllPosts and $AllTopics variable from the public_forum_summary.pl template, since your hack affects the ubb_forum_summary.cgi file. I don't use these hacks and it worked on my board, with only categories displayed and without!
Currently, I can't imagine why it doesn't work Theoreticly it must work perfect!
Maybe it's due to the newsfader hack which both of you have installed. I gonna download this hack now and analyse it.

edit: I downloaded the News Fader V1.4Hack by Slurpee, but I can't find anything that may interfere the Total Posts and Topics Hack!
And there are other boards that get this working even with the Newsfader hack!
So, I really need the ubb_forum_summary.cgi to analyse the problem.
Slurpee, I inserted the $AllTopics and $AllPosts variables nearly everythere in my forum_summary template and they worked everthere.
It's late here in Germany, so hope to have the files tomorrow.

(Maybe someone should move this thread to beta hacks )

No, I think that's not necessary because I took a fresh ubb_forum_summary.cgi and followed exactly my instructions from the .txt file and it worked perfectly!

You both must be exceptions, but I want to get rid of them, too.
Please send me your ubb_forum_summary.cgi to webmaster@Tovok7.de and I will check it tomorrow (my time).

Slurpee, I think now that you just forgot to clear your cache everytime then you try something out. It happens to me, too several times.

Tovok, nope not a cache issue I have cleared it. Also people are using it in conjunction with the fader, not IN in it, like I am trying to do it. The board you gave as an example put the $AllPosts, $AllTopics as part of the $RegisteredMemberLine like in your standard hack. Maybe I am not calling it right somewhere but I'm pretty proficient with this stuff.

Does that mean you got 'Total Post & Topics' to display with 'ONLY CATS ON MAIN FORUM PAGE' = Enabled? It shouldn't work with the current version because the hack doesn't work like that, so what do you mean?

Slurpee, what do you mean with in it? Part of your hack?
It should work if ubb_forum_summary.cgi is called before your hack is displayed.
Did you try to put the variables in your forum_summary template? That works definitly on my board, I can set it into a HTML comment to show you.

mark99, I updated the hack (before you did your post) it works now independent from the way categories are displayed.
