DESCRIPTION: Gives moderators of private forums a list in the control panel setting for their private forum to which they can add login names of users, and grant them authorisation to that forum. (IF the user has write access- ie registration is approved + not banned). Less work for admins on boards with lots of private forums who have frequently shifting populations.
Borg, any chance we could see a list of members, and have the ability to add them to the "private forums list" by checking them off. I think it is kind of mundane to have to write each user's name in there.
Not sure what you mean with the suggestion tho- do you mean have a search feature to list members, then be able to give them access from that? Sounds an awful lot like the existing system...
Let my try to explain what I mean more clearly....
Currently (without your hack), in order to give a bunch of users access to a private forum, you must go into each individual member profile, and check the box that grants them permission to post in the private forum.
I would like the ability to see ALL the registered members on ONE list, and be able to give access to private forums via a checkbox to anyone I want. Once you click "submit" it updates EVERYONE'S profile at once.
In a nutshell, this is basically your hack does, but instead of writing each user name in manually, I would like to have a list of all the registered members that I can pick from.
For a board that has a lot of members and has various access groups, it is a real pain in the butt to type in manually each and every member that you want to include into an access group.
This seems great, but my biggest concern is that this allows the moderator for that forum to have access to all of that forum's settings. Including the option to turn off/on HTML and any other feature you may not want them to have control of.
Is there any way to restrict the access a bit more so that it looks similar to the hack for UBB5?
works great but i got one problem! when a moderator logs into the cp and they drop the menu down they canot see "forum summary" soo thay can edit the list unless i give them the url manualy. any help?
Sounds like a problem with the end-of-line characters.
There's actually a HUGE bug in the PFAL when giving access to a member who doesn't have any other provate forum access... I'll release v 1.5 with remove options, and the fix, and then 2.0 for UBB 6.1
Thanx for the hack Installed it and trying it now. Good timing as I was just about to switch over to the hide forums hack and didnt feel like changing everyone's access
