I wanted a few people to have admin permission in the forums, but not have access to the Control Panel, so I worked up this hack for my v6.04c

It's not as good as changing the name of the control panel file (cp.cgi) file, but it's easier. I managed to hack the code so no one but myself can access the control panel - not even other administrators.

In cp_lib.cgi:

----Find:

Code
[/code]

----Find:

Code
</pre></div></div><br><br>----Change To:<br><br><div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Code</div><div class="ubbcode-body ubbcode-pre" ><pre>

----THE FINISHED CODE:

[code]
----Hope this helps.

You could have just made them megamods. But, good work, just the same.

Actually, I tried MegaMods and couldn't get it to work. From what I could tell, though, that just gives more people access to the Contol Panel, not less.

The "FINISHED CODE" just shows all of the changes made above in one piece.

There's no need to add that, just do the changes given above it. smile

No problem! cool

As the sole administrator, I feel that I should have access to ALL passwords. I'm working on that hack now.

That really isn't necessary Mac. Just goto your cgi-bin directory, then click on the members folder, then click on whatever member number you want to. Download the 00000001.cgi, or whatever, and just look in there. The password is stored there. smile You can change all sorts of stuff in there, such as the user images(which the CP can to), the date registered, or anything! If you change the registration date, then you have to change one of the .pl or .cgi files from dateofregistration, not at all correct, to userprofile[8] or whatever one it is. Mine says A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. tipsy

have fun. Also, you can demote them, for like 2 seconds, and check it right inside the CP. smile

BTW: Why do you need the passwords anyways?
