First off this hack will only work for IE users.
Secondly I'm quite a bandwidth freak so the JavaScript code looks rather unreadable.
Thirdly, I'm surprised no-one has done this kinda of hack before, seems already popular over at our forums, and its only been there for ~1hr
On with the show...
Okay, in short you know in IM Windows or mIRC where you can press CTRL+B to bolden text, or mark a starting point for the bold and an end point?
well thats how this work
The Shortcuts:
CTRL+B: Bolden
CTRL+I: Italics
CTRL+E: Email
CTRL+M: code (Monospace text)
CTRL+Q: Quote
CTRL+.: Image
CTRL+Enter: Submit (with confirmation)
2 ways of doing it, if there isn't a current selection, then it'll do the left side tag then you type in your text and press it again and it'll close the tag.
Or you highlight a selection of text, and press the combination you want and voila it makes that text the way you want.
It isn't completely perfect but hey, it works (if not abused).
Also I haven't edited the FAQ page for it, but that shouldn't be too hard
You can get the hack from
here Only tested on 6.05
I see no reason for this NOT to work in the later UBBs, but I dont have those to test, so if someone with the later ones wants to give this a shot, and report on it working?
Thanks.
As per usual, if you want to try it out you can go sign up at
our forums and give it a whirl (but only if you intend on staying
)
EDIT: Should this be in templates?
since it is just editing templates?
