The width can't be with percents, jon, please make it an absolute number - like "400" is good. (works with all resolutions except 640x480)

Great, works now! :GLOWS WITH ADMIRATION:
The only thing that does not work is the stats, probably me again! I have turned it off for the meantime, it did not display the topic count, do I need another hack for that to work?

I am using 6.3.0 Beta 1. I installed the News Fader fine, but I don't get the stats. Also, after my news items scroll, I get the cell empty for the same number of seconds as my time interval before it starts over. http://www.tropictravelonline.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

I notice that no one has answered Debbie's question which has been brought up about three times now---the problem with the news fader not showing any stats.
We're running the news fader here under 6.3.1:

Suggestions/solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Step 3 should be 'Add Before' instead of 'Add After', that would prolly fix it.
Syntax, anyway, please put your url in your profile if you want better help.

Did you modify step 3? What is it? (maybe there was a problem with ordering)

Yes I tried modifying step 3 and adding before instead of after, but with no luck. This is step 3 according to this .txt. file. (i added [..etc..] because i'm sure you know what goes there by now anyway, it's just to give a basic idea of the step..)
Find: $Top .= ' | ';
Add After: # Start News Fader Stuff
[..etc..]
# End News Fader Stuff

Call me stupid---I've been called much worse. But why would someone take the time to create a hack---and a popular one like NewsFader, and then not bother to respond to questions about any problems with it?!?
Several people have reported problems with NewsFader NOT displaying Stats in 6.3 BUT NOT ONE SINGLE "EXPERT" HAS OFFERED EVEN THE HINT OF A SOLUTION.
Grrrrrrrr...............

Firstly, ignorance doesn't get you anywhere. Stay polite as we don't HAVE to provide this service for you. Be grateful we have such a great team of 'experts' to create these hacks for you to use.
Here's the fixed version (thanks LK) of News Fader for 6.3: http://www.liberifatali.com/umbrella/ubbhacks/newsfader622.zip

Hey guys, I think that I found a small error in coding, when doing a smilie ( , , , etc) in the news, it trys to use the CGI path as the location of the image the smilie is associated with. In my case it tried to use http://www.undergroundnews.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/wink.gif as opposed to http://www.undergroundnews.com/ubb/wink.gif Just figured that I'd drop a line and see if either I have something messed up or something needs to be fixed. If you figure it out please email or check my bulletin board at http://www.undergroundnews.com/ -Giz

Did you use the Multi-hack or the Zip file? The Zip file may be out of date compared to the Multihack, I'm not sure..

I re-exported the MultiHack file, so if my .zip was out of date, it is now the same version that is available in the MultiHack.. If this doesn't work, you will have to talk to Allen.. http://www.liberifatali.com/umbrella/ubbhacks/newsfader622.zip Good luck..

For those of you stating that this doens't work on 6.3.0, I'm running it perfectly on: http://www.undergroundnews.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi I had to make some small modifications, but so long as you're doing it by hand you can format them with little hassle.

It's working fine for me, just now installed it on my gaming boards (6.3.1). Question: I'm using JC Templates (modified) and I want to "comment out" the -Forum-Topic-Reply- row directly above the news fader. What's the code? Anyone know? And where do i do it in public_forum_summary.pl? Thanks Check it: http://www.planethex.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

For some reason when I want it to show the total posts and threads, it shows nothing. I am running it on 6.3.0. The newsfader runs fine except that.

Step 3 in ubb_forum_summary.cgi should be add before instead of add after.

For anyone still having problems displaying the stats, I moved this section from the newsfader code in public_forum_summary.pl

to just after sub PageTop { Not promising it will work for yours, but did on mine Magnum

Ok, this is bugging me now. I'll post a fully tested and ported version in the 6.3 forums for those wanting to use it with 6.3.

The only thing wrong with your zip OBK is the add before instead of add after step with the Total Topics/Post. At least that was the only problem I found. o_O
