Rai: The 5.47e zip in the Member Area... Laguna: It should work fine, but the line numbers may be off.

S: maybe I'm missing something, but it's a hack, I don't think anyone said it will be in a stock 6.2.0...

Some of it is in the base 6.1.0+ code you download from the members area. (I know for sure the anchor tag is still in there, I use it for the anchor hack and last reply by, + if I remember right, the other code is mostly in there, it might be commented, but is there).

I've made a blue arrow for those who can't find it. [ 11-22-2001: Message edited by: Variables ]

Quick question... myself and my brother both post at my board using the same computer. If I read five replies in a thread and he only reads 3, will it jump to reply 6 even when HE presses the blue arrow? Or is the cookie or whatever working so that it can detect which user is on the boards. Sorry for my ignorance. [ 11-23-2001: Message edited by: ZoneX ]

It can't know what he reads, it knows only the latest time the cookie was modified... So it will jump to the one after the latest time (probably 6)

You'll need to clone that variable and place the link inside the clone. Shouldn't be too hard....
(Or you can place the link elsewhere.)

I'm trying to apply this to a 6.2 installation. The final step (associated with Code Snippet 4) is giving me a little trouble. I've found the section in the p_t_p.pl file, but there are double-quotes around some of the numbers i.e.
Your code sample doesn't reflect those double-quotes i.e.
The question is, is this an issue? Can I simply substitute the quoted numbers with unquoted numbers and not get hosed?
I'm going to try it both ways, but since I'm not a developer/coder/script guy, I'd be interested in knowing why these are different.
Thanks,
Dirk

OK, I implemented this on 6.2 and it worked on the first try. I added quotes around the numbers, apparently with no ill effects.
What would really flip my wig would be if the topic URLs in "Today's Active Topics" could execute the 'Blue Arrow Phase Shift' and bring the user to the newest posts in each active topic.
Does this sound too much like a support request?
Dirk

question: you are one of those infopop guys who made the ubb, right? Now you made a modification, ik niet begrijp (in dutch ) Why didn't you add the hack to the ubb in the first place?

Lauren, this is not vB here. The stock UBB has the most important features. Hacks are just addons - like Microsoft's powertoys. This hack is cool IMO, but it sure isn't so important.
