Modified public_ubb_code_page.pl to show examples of UBB code to users. Just waiting for t-c-i's ok since this is his hack.

I'm having a problem. I can't get the buttons to show up. Don't you have to edit public_common.pl to get the buttons to show up? (its not listed in the instructions).

If someone can tell me the font style used on those buttons (default UBB) I am will to make some up as well as make the coding modifications to the proper file. All with T-C-I's approval of course smile

Yes I installed it on my test system and it works as it should. Needs to have UBB description page updated (working on it and will send to Mike as soon as it is done) Needs to have buttons added and as noted I'll do those and modify the other file but I need to know the font type InfoPop used on their buttons so I can make them look the same.

I installed it and did not see any buttons?? What is needed to complete this mod?

Never Mind, I figured it out. You have to edit public_common.pl, vars_wordlets.cgi and vars_wordlets_img.cgi

I also added marquee, and embed src for videos, if anybody wants the code, let me know and i'll send it to you. One word of caution, I am a great hacker, but I don't know perl or cgi, so there may be some bugs, but basically I took what was there and copied and changed it for the additions, so I don't think so. I tested everything and it works fine on my board.

Files updated to include heading1, 2 & 3, flip horizontal, flip verticle, invert, xray, and glowing text. .psd file updated with all the buttons.

WEWFHF EFED Roleplay Board

Here is a link to my instructions, T-C-I, Hope you dont mind, and if someone with some perl/cgi codeing experience could look at it and verify it, I would appreciate it. Like I said, I am no programmer, so use at your own risk!!! These instructions include the updated code for marquee's and videos.

instructions and images for UBB Code Buttons

Can you add in those instructions to get the buttons to appear anyways?

Gene,

I did you modifications and now everything shows up. However the buttons are dead. I mean you can click them and they show up you go through the process type in whatever text etc but it never puts anything in the message window?

and it you try and manually input the codes example [marquee][/marquee] or any of them the UBB does not recognize them. So we are one step closer to this hack working but no bullseye yet.

I took this, added a few more UBB codes and XHTML-ized it. I added H1, H2, H3, invert, fliph, flipv, and xray, as well as MrStormyNights marquee and embed. This does not include the stuff for UBB buttons, I think that should be in a seperate file smile This is just to add the codes to the board.

Thanks Ramirez but I think I will wait and see if we can ever get this one to work ever. Pretty frustrating when you have the code installed and someone else did the button part and it looks nice and displays but when you go to post they dont work like they are suppose too frown I get nothing but dead window. I can enter text whatever into the java window but it never posts it in the message for the new buttons.

That's why I think the code buttons should be seperated out. It's easy to get the ubb codes working, but it's a whole 'nother hack to get buttons displayed and working properly.

Well basically I think it should be one hack. what good is a hack that doesn't work?

They look nice. smile

But they sure dont work. I tried the second part that makes them visible but it dont work. Even with the first part you cant even manually do them ex [] [/]

WHAT I MEAN TO SAY IS WHAT GOOD IS ANY OF THIS CODE IF IT DON'T WORK?

Manually typing them in should work fine. They all work on my boards, though I'll go check them again to make sure.

This one looks good, but does it screen for all the little ways some devious person can hack your site? That was the reason the last attempt at this was pulled from the site.

LK, do you mean everyone that uses an '=' should be followed by 'S+'? I can make those changes later this afternoon when I get home. What happens if you don't use that, out of curiousity? Also, my version should be xhtml-ized, but I'll look over it again.

Cool, thanks for the info. I updated embed, font, and size to use S?

Does it look like it's XHTML-transitional compliant?

Are there any other possible security concerns?

LK,

I appreciate the help. Your fix does not even work. I hope people are understanding what I say. The buttons work and you can type text in there etc. But when you click ok nothing goes into the message window so the additions are basically dead. I dont know what else to do. I can send you a copy of the hack as it is also posted here with images etc.

Fixed an odd typo from the original file. Tested all new ubb codes and they all worked fine. They did, however, do something screwy and made the post into a poll, but I'll be looking at that later smile

The buttons work but only when you manually type them in? So how can I get the buttons to show work. The problem is they dont post back into the window.

The ubbcodes work if you type them in manually. I haven't touched anything with the buttons, so I have no idea how or if they work. You should try typing the ubb codes directly into your text box to see if they work.

It is not easy to get the buttons to work as one can see. I can manually type these codes in but the buttons do not work. Here is the text stormy posted to get them to be visible which they are and they do actually click. Yet they do not link back to the message window?

go down to the additions to public_common.pl and vars_wordlets_img.cgi and vars_wordlets.cgi

Replace 'REPLIER' with 'replier' if you use Allen's XHTML hack.

you think that will make them work.

Thanks LK ya da man. That was exactly the problem. They work now. One thing I noticed about your fix to ramirez. I tried that but when you edit a message the codes change to %and all that weird stuff. If you use the base code your fine with the codes staying if you edit a message. That also could be a problem with me using xtml files of allens.
