UPDATE: https://ubbdev.com/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=30;t=000123;p=2#000021

It fades your message text from one color to another, but you ABSOLUTELY NEED THE ADVANCE UBB CODE OR THE OPTION!
This isn't something for the News Fader. It's a whole different thing.

Nice! I think "onchange" is better than "onclick" in the selectboxes though.

I'll be willing to give it a shot but I need two things;

1. a link that works

2. upgradability from the standard fader.

I don't mind having to remove the old one since my .org board is the hacking, slashing and testing board.

I get this when I click the link.

The page cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

I meant the news fader, in the .org link in my sig. I misunderstood the original post. I would definitely install this though and give you a demo baord.

Lol..

Go to the new topic, or reply and click 'fade' in the UBB Code buttons area.

Sorry about the image smirk

Its kinda....off

Could you help me, how do I make the button do a pop up,and when the person clicks the button to generate the fade, the window pops up, but how can I make the faded text go into text area?

Okay, click here to see what happened.

This is a bug in the UBB code hack that I added to two different boards that adds spaces in the tags somehow. Otherwise it works fine, I need to sort the UBBcode errors. Lemme grab the link to exactly where I got the UBBCode

That isnt a bug

Its just the space in the UBB Textarea

Youll have to look through it to see any spaces or breaks.
Its just the ubb, but it works better in signatures

Because now it updated it only when you click on the selectbox, not when you MODIFY it. What if you use intellimouse/arrows, for example?

Yes you can, its just that when you paste the code in this text area, sometimes there isnt enough room, so what it does is automaticcly put a new line in.

Are you kinda getting what i mean?

When I manually remove the extra spaces (in edit mode) it adds them again, and the pattern is always the same. There is something causing the spaces to be added as the UBB renders the code. I have a lot of hacks installed so I can't even begin to guess where the conflict is.

Is it possible that having the XHTML templates is part of the problem?

You'll see exactly what I mean.

It's the .org board in my sig

Okay, I made a few changes, including having it open in a new window. Now I can get it to work if I massage the message before I dod the copy and paste.

Would it be possible to have it not add the extra (empty) color tags at the end?

I cant see what would do that.

Ive looked over and over in the code.

Nothing looks like it would

The extra tags at the end are there just because it's used for signatures.

This was originally made for signatures.

I wonder if i change something...

I changed the rows and columns to the same as the ubb default, it might work.

Let me try this and I will release .2

The problem is in the UBB advanced code, and it's interaction with multiple color or size tags. I've seen this bug when users tried to do manual faded or multi-sized text.

Deit: This bug was noticed before the faded hack.

I give up. No matter what I do, there are spaces being added that mess up the code. I'm not the only person that sees this. Why is the color tag adding spaces that I can't even edit out? When I open the post to edit it, it puts the spaces back in.

Once, after I edited a post in UBBDev, became [/U RL]... So I guess it might be a bug in Perl or Internet Explorer...

There isnt a possible way in my fader.
Ive checked tons of times.
What lk said : I think it happens in long lines

Try typing something shorter: ex "Testing Fader"

It happens in long lines of text. It happened before I put your hack in. Somehow the advanced UBB code for color and size causes the spaces to be added. I would love to find a resolution for this since I'm not the only person this happens to.

If you look at this thread at the last two post you'll see that it isn't random, but follows a pattern. You cannot edit the spaces out either, it just puts them right back in.

Hmm, try it in your signature, it works good in that.

Well, I want to figure out why the advanced code does that. Your hack appears to work just fine, but it would be nice if it populated the text box.

YEEHAA, I figured it out. There is a setting in the control panel--->Misc. settings--->String length limit that auto inserts a space after a specified number of characters. When I insert the generated rainbow text I'm going over that limit and a space is inserted automatically.

Now I have to re-install the hack and test it....BRB

it might be a good idea to note the fact that the "string length limit" in the 'miscellaneous settings' should be bumped up...

also, i think you've got an extra space and " in the public_common.pl line

i changed

to

to get this working.

but now that i've worked those kinks out, all is well, thanks

Artfact, The string limit has been cleared up already, and you should grab the new version as posted earlier, it gets rid of the html file altogether.

The only thing I can think of is find a way to eliminate the copy and paste portion.
