What :: XHTML 1.0 Transitional Compliance Version :: 6.1.0.3 Final Info :: As promised in the recent U-zine article. These are the first editions of fully xhtml 1.0 transitional compliant public template files and cgi changes. Only distributed in a MHP format due to the sheer amount of work to be done. This affects all public template, wordlet, and cgi files. Intended to be the first modification you install on your forums, this will either not install on previously modified files, or overwrite what you have done. Demo :: https://www.ubbdev.com/test/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi - I left one forum open as a test forum to check validation, we'll have the files up here some time this weekend. Files :: https://ubbdev.com/db/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=22;t=000021 - do NOT redistribute without my or Infopop's permission.

Allen! NOW you post this! Okay ... HOW important is this? IOW, should I forget all the work I've just done and install this? Oh, the link @ the database doesn't come back to this thread. It takes you to the Sticky Thread!

It's important to us geeky types who like this type of stuff and is a portend of things to come as 6.2 will be fully compliant as well. You can use them if you like, but won't break you if you don't

Aww that sucks, I wish you would have the hack in non-multihack form cause I don't use multihack so I can't use this huh .

The install file is ~1900 lines..... I am pretty sure you'd rather use mhk.

Hey Allen (or anyone else w/knowledge of this),
If the accelerator is working, the .php suffix shows, correct? Do all of the pages have this feature? If they are supposed to, does this mean some of my hacks that I installed are not accelerator compliant?
Right now, about 52% of my page views are from the UBB accelerator.
Final question--would have this transitional compliance hack installed make my board more compliant with the accelerator?
Thanks!

The template files have been uploaded for some time AL, check the beta forum thread That's what I am talking about... you really don't wanna manually edit your cgi files that badly, I don't think Sue... those figures sound correct for the percentage. This doesn't affect the accelerator, except where you have to add a few lines to the php script so that ";" works in the urls. Read Charles' second interview in the Interview forum of the database for more information on what the accelerator does for the UBB.

Won't this make hacks harder to install..? Things that you are supposed to be finding will have been changed because of this XHTML stuff..? Why does UBB6.1 have to be so confusing to hack..?

Strange.. I just ran the MultiHack file XHTML 1.0 Transitional Validation and got an error on the last part of it hacking ubb_lib_posting.cgi . What could be wrong and how could i fix it..? Still unsure whether this is worth doing due to it making other hacks harder to install.. Thanks, Alix.

Thanks, Alix.
Edit the Multihack file and delete step (order)57
it changes the following: $_[0] =~ s/( ; ) /[img]$2[/img]/isg;
which is again attempted to be changed in step 74.
since its already changed by step 57 it causes step 74 to fail.
Allen - COULD YOU PLEASE UPDATE the MULTIHACK FILE! Thanks

It's not really a hack, it is XHTML Transitional validated templates and .cgi files. It makes your UBB run a little bit faster, and you can get XHTML validation at http://www.w3.org . This will also come standard in UBB 6.2

My QUOTE function is having a problem with the XHTML coding. Specificially when I try to EDIT a post that has a quote function in it. It seems to be a problem with the reverse_ubb_code subroutine. Here is the file: www.netbattletech.com/ubb_prob.zip You can see what it does at: http://www.netbattletech.com/forum/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=000508 Last post. It is not removing the HTML coding from the page when you go to edit it. Any ideas?

Yeah, the backtrace for the quote tags isn't adapted for the XHTML update. I've also encountered this problem and am trying to fix it. I only have to get rid off the font tags, the rest has already been updated. Edit: Well with my very limited knowledge on this I'm on the end off search to solve it. I only got rid off the
and tags. This piece of code will do that (replace the sub reverse_ubb_code block inside ubb_lib_posting.cgi):
[/code]Now could someone please get rid off those last font tags?
[code] Cause they seem to spoil the party
lol, beter move this to the beta forum

LK helped me out. D/L the 6.2 upgrade and get the blockquote code from both ubb_lib and ubb_lib_posting. UBBCode subroutine reverse_ubb_code subroutine Copy JUST those lines into your existing files (replace what you have). In ubb_lib_posting you will have to delete the little header in front of the line (different code). Do not do the entire sections as there are things not compatible (found that out the hard way). Boom works. Was kicking my butt.

Ow, thanks for this fast reply but the multihack should still be updated for other users. I'll just run over to 6.2 to get my piece of code now

Okay, Allen, I have a stoooopid question for you. When you upgrade to 6.2+ -- do you need to do the XHTML 1.0 Transitional Compliance upgrade, too? Or is it already a part of the 6.2+? Thanks!
