Name: Hit Counter
Description: Counters the number of total hits to a topic, although it's in there it will also count the number of dynamic hits. The difference between other counters is that the counter processor is in it's own file instead of being imbedded into the ubb which is a cache killer.
Download: Use Other Counter
note: I'm still waiting on my server setup, so this is untested. Install at your own risk. Please report any bugs. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work, but here's my suggestion: 1. make counter.cgi print out Content-type before anything else. 2. use , because you can't use exec in perl files. Good job tho

Ack, forgot about that. I updated the zip with those two fixes. I don't really expect it to work, it's just something i thought of within the hour out. Worth a shot though.

One more suggestion: use the full path before counter.cgi in forum_page - $vars_config{CGIURL}/counter.cgi, in case that ultimatebb.php is used or there is base href

This hack has no way of damaging the board in any way. I went through the cgi file and straightened up a few things, everything looks like it should work....hopefully...

It's untested, thats why you need to TEST it to see if it works.

It doesn't work on 6.3.1.0 The forumpage opens very very slow and it counts no hits at all.

Well on 6.3.0 I tried it and it works fine except for the fact it doesnt count hits on private lounges... even ones i have access to

Big bug: it only adds more hits when the topic is LISTED in forum page, not viewed.
Fix: seperate the ++ code and the print one, then use ++ in get_topic and print in forum_page.

I changed the filehandling part to say if $in{hits} eq 'yes' then update hits else just read from it.
EDIT: Just updated again with some fixes that i forgot. Now it should work.

I just tried it, didn't work. It also made my topic listing/topic pages load alot slower. Something is wrong.

Same here...Also, the hits column displays nothing.. Same thing with LK's version..I'm batting zero with these Hit hacks...I have 8 other hacks successfully installed and one of them may be interfering with the 'hits' field which shows nothing but an empty field for all threads; no counts at all..
