Name: Strike System

Funded by: UltimateDBZ wink

Description: Instead of Report a Post, admins/moderators can Strike other users.

Link: ZIP File

Demo: http://www.lkworld.com

Requirements: UBBâ„¢ 6.3.1

Number of Downloads: [img]https://www.ubbdev.com/lk/num.php?s=strike.zip[/img]

Notes: Many features aren't even tested (updates to lib_misc, ultimatebb). Let your moderators know that the following reasons will make them go to report a post page instead of strike:
  1. They have to use it in the forum they moderate.
  2. They can't strike other moderators/administrators.
  3. A user can't get more than one strike on the same day. Prevents moderators from trying to ban a user because of personal reasons.

I have just updated ultimatebb.cgi and ubb_lib_misc.cgi to fix a bug and change some functionality, the 4 people that downloaded the hack so far - please rehack them. (I bet nobody installed it yet though frown )

I'm not sure I understand. Is it like 3 strikes and you are out? Does it temporarily ban a user or do they have to be manually unbanned for reinstatement? I think the description is lacking a few details.

I got it hacked now. so far so good, but I have a couple of questions.

1. how long does the temp ban last? couldn't there be a box there where I could specify the length in days?

2. shouldn't it say 'struck a user' instead of 'stroke a user'? lol It just sounds a bit funny. I don't really wanna stroke any of my users. tipsy

1. there already is, in CP, the same amount of time as a strike when it gets removed.

2. you're right, but it's a wordlet tipsy

cool. I thought maybe that was it, but then I thought, well, what if.. say a user gets a strike on day 1 and then another some days later and then the 3rd one on day 29 of the 1st strike wearing off.. then wouldn't that person only face a 1 day ban?

[sarcasm] it probably isn't really important seeings that all of my members behave well all the time. [/sarcasm] wink

btw, I was just picking about the stroke thing. I fixed it in the wordlets before I posted that. tipsy

Once I strike a person it is not allowing the same admin to strike that person again, even after several days later.

Would the fix also work with v6.3 boards?

Doubtful I would upgrade to break the hacks I already have.

I do not seem to have all the files as mentioned within the ZIP file, has the instuctions been written wrong?

I have files:

cp_vars_strike
cp_strike
vars_strike
public_strike
strike
---------------------
---------------------

Instructions say:

Upload:
=======
ubb_strike.cgi - cgi-bin
vars_strike.cgi - variables (usually cgi-bin)
cp_vars_strike.pl - noncgi/Templates

***********************

Can some one clarify? I would like to try this hack if possible,

Regards,

NGATS

You mean that you have more files than the instructions imply... LK just forgot to update the instructions with the new files he added since release. You should be fine, just putting the .cgi files in your cgi-bin folder and the .pl files in your templates folder.

Basically yes... ubb_strike.cgi -> cp_strike.cgi, and I added public_strike.pl.

It's working like a champ, and within the first 3 or 4 days of use, ate 1 troll... wink

I have a question though: Is it possible to eliminate the BOLD text in the Strike Logs..? Frankly, it's annoying as hell to have to read a page full of BOLD text.

Was this ever fixed in 6.3 so you could strike the same person more than once and get to your designated limit to ban?

I have tried to hack this a couple of times but with no luck. I can do all of the steps to strike a person, but it does not email the offender, nor does it enter into the stike log.

Help!

I have it running on 6.5 (if thats anything big), I can tell you that it works perfectly with the instructions there, perhaps try to roll it back from the 6.5 version?

6.3.1.2 runs like a champ for me, other than writing the Strike Logs in all bold text.

Thanks ive installed it, seems to work ok. I didnt like the way it displays the logs so I changed it a little, when I get more time Im going to add pagination so you dont just get all the log entries on one page.

I was wondering how I could do this.

At my board, we've got ~8 admins, only 2 of which have cp access. I've been trying to figure out someway Admins could temporarily ban a member if he's acting up too much. What I've got planned is if 2 admins agree a person should be temporarily banned, they can each strike the user, and he will be banned.
I've already made it so only admins can strike. How could I set it so a member can be stricken more than once, just not by the same person?

Also, BassTeQ, I love the way that looks compared to the default, is there anyway you could post what you changed to get that?

find this :
Code
[/code]Then delete everything after the } else {
and replace it with

[code]

awesome, it even links to the post instead of having that blocky text smile

Is there anyway we could delete strikes via the cp, in case a mod struck a person and an admin didn't agree with it?
