Well that part is the pain. But you can use a program like Beyond Compare and keep your hacks.

With Beyond Compare it is an easy thing to upgrade as long as Matt keeps telling us what files were altered

Beyond Compare is the coolest utility ever and if it wasn't for it, I'd probably never upgrade lol.

Hey, do you guys think when you make small updates that only seem to be a few lines. Maybe also put a readme in there telling them the exact lines to edit. Just thought it would make it more efficient.

Didn't know there was a 6.05f version... But yes, use the Upgrade zip to upgrade from 6.05.

Go to the Member's area and download the "upgrade zip" and replace your files with the one inside the zip.
Then follow the upgrade doc inside of the zip on what else you need to do.

Yeah it's one good program. Saves you heaps of time compared to upgrading and installing all the hacks again!

Just grab the shareware version of beyond compare Its easy to use.I just made 1 folder with all my hacked UBB files and another folder with all the files from the Upgrade.Then compared and made the changes to the upgrade files

it is easy until one of the upgrades affects one of the areas that a MOD changed then the problems start! (at least for those of us that are not PERL gurus like our guys)

The base code has changed too much as quite a few of the subs were moved around. Not yet... I believe Charles posted a bug-fix in the thread. I'll update the xhtml templates sometime between now and late tonight.

I'm new here. I am now using v 5.7 with a whole load of hacks (ICQ, Whos Online, etc). Will I have to "back out" all those mods first before installing the latest version? (Can I even jump from 5.7 to 6.1.0.2?? ) Advice?

I'm assuming your speaking of 5.47, and if so, yes, you can upgrade to 6.1.0.2... you won't have to backout all your mods b/c the new version will write over all the old files... make sure to read the instructions on infopop's site before going from 5.47 to version 6...

Basil if you had ANY hacks at all that added fields to member's profiles run the script that cleans your Member files first. It's in the Infopop Member area. newstrip.cgi I think it was named.
