Is manually updating my forum with new code legal even though I can't actually download it? Do I need a serial number to be able to use it or what? Can I legally ask someone for the changes implemented in 5.47e so I can finalize this thing and add the remainder of my hacks? Do any of you know which files were changed in the very last 5.47e code update, and can you send me the required changes?

no...

Yes, you should contact the person you got it from to get it for you... if she doesn't have it anymore, she can get it again from infopop

No, not unless you have a valid license with current members' area download priviledges

yes and no, not without losing our license if IP finds out...

My advice would be to check with who you bought it from and get the license number asap... then renew it and upgrade to 5.47e or 6

Er, yeah... the lady's somewhere in Italy or Europe and the chances of me getting a hold of her are effectively zero now.

If I could remember what the hell her personal e-mail address was at least I'd have that, but...

I'm working for a percentage of final sale right now, which means I have to watch gas and food money and have no budget for extras for the next 6 months. I don't want to upgrade to 6 as I don't see I'm entitled to it, it's slower, and don't want to wait for hacks anyway.

I'm stretching my means as much as possible, as you can tell.

It's up to you SW... I'd at least make a good-faith effort to contact her...:) Email, phone, snail mail, blah blah blah.. is she still running the second licensed site? Can you contact her through that one? What about domain names and the contact info from them? You can pretty much find anybody now-a-days if they've been on the net any length of time...

We aren't the IP Police... I'd have no way of verifying your license # in the first place...:)
