Hey guys,

First off thanks for creating this wonderful place.

I'm ready to start hacking. I have installed the latest UBB successfully and I have a tech savvy friend that will help me install any mods I wish.

So my question is, what are the best hacks to install?

And do I understand correctly, that I should install "multihack" first, since it is a tool for doing just that?

And what other tools are "must haves"?

And could you all chime in with your favorite hacks?

And lastly, are there any hacks you recommend I avoid for whatever reasons?

I read all the newbie posts first so apologies if I should have checked elsewhere before posting here. Please refer me to the right place if I screwed up.

Unless you don't have the time to learn some, I'd recommend against using one of the auto-installers, at least starting off. It'd be better to get your hands dirty working on some of the easier modifications to learn what each file does and how to trouble-shoot if you have problems later. If you don't have time to learn, the multihack looks good, and I think borg is still working on the vinkulum.

Choice of modifications depends on what you like, most people like Who's Online, but it's not quite finished, a couple more days should give you an excellent product there. "Last reply by" in the finished forum is cool, and the avatar and smilie mods are nice. The memberlist is another good one, but probably needs another week or so before it is ready for prime time.

I am sure others will have other opinions on "must haves" but the basics are there.
