UBB.Developers Forums UBB.threads 7 Development How Do I? Question about Private Messages forum

I have seen some UBB with this forum. I know that when you send a pm to someone that they receive a notification in their email as well as the message. Or they can just check their profile and see if someone has sent them a pm. So what I do not understand is why these boards have these PM forums. What is the advantage of having it.

you must mean 'private forums'. private forums are for only people who have been given access to them. we use them here to discuss matters of the board, report problems, and trade urls of our personal ikonboard installations.

towards the bottom of his board it has a "check private message" forum.

so you want to know why that forum has pm notification on the front page? it just allows people to easily see if they have any new pm's.

As is the case on our board we use private Messaging for many reasons, one of which is when one board member takes exception with another. They can take their personal problems to the PM forum and not suck others into the fray. PM's are to contact any one person and address any issue without having your idea/concern/exception splashed about for all to see and comment on. A useful tool to say the least......
