How do i make it so that when some one types in http://forums.mydomain.com it takes them to the home page of my ubb board and not a redirection link which i have had to do for now

I don't think you can do it straightaway like that. But you can add the following to the tag of your index.html page, which will automatically redirect the users without any waiting time...
onload="window.location='http://your.address.com'">

Those both basically accomplish the same thing.
One thing I just thought of: Make you front page completely blank, except for:
(or use "include virtual" if "exec cgi" doesn't work.)
That won't actually redirect them, but it will make them think they're seeing the main forums page...
