Can someone bring me up to speed on this, please?

Long ago (yes, I am OLD in internet years) there was a FREE version of UBB that you could use as long as you didn't hack it. Does anyone remember the version? AND - whatever happened to that? I can't find anything about it on INFOPOP's site.

I'm looking at UBB as a better way than email for my friends and family to keep in touch -- we're spread all over the map and some are in some pretty remote areas.

the old freeware version is long gone (except for like 1 site) There is a trial version though but it has alot of restrictions (I think) Someone should bring ME up to date lol

That is the free UBB, but it's *ONLY* purpose is to see if UBB will work on your server.

So if you want to get a UBB for your family and friends to post on, you will have to buy a license.

Yeah, The Free version is pretty restricted to only last a little while, You could use a free board but I don't think you'll get a UBB to last a while unless you get a licence.
