Summary: My first forum, named "General Discussion", has a problem loading (the thread list). The individual threads in it are all intact. All my other forums can be read. The index rebuild function, though it seems to process for a while, times out when processing the first forum.
The UBB:
http://www.rushmagazine.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi Detail:
I created a new forum, "Rush Issues", I posted a message in it. I then successfully moved a message from "General Discussion" to "Rush Issues" with the 'move and delete thread' option. After the move, "General Discussion" would no longer work, though it worked after "Rush Issues" had been created and the message in it had been posted. I tried moving the message back and that did not remedy the problem.
The odd thing is that with direct links, the threads withing "General Discussion" can be read. All of them seem to be intact, but the thread list for the forum does not load, it just times out.
An example:
http://www.rushmagazine.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000090 I went through the knowledge base and found a problem remotely similar to mine:
Update threads continues far beyond the number of topics within a forum http://infopopfaq.infopop.net/0/OpenTopic?q=Y&a=tpc&s=10009141&f=830092371&m=635099283 I checked for "binary black boxes" and corrupt threads and any of those simple key symptoms and found none.
So, I've tried to rebuild, and though the bar at the bottom of my browser progresses some way, it eventually stops and the rebuild times out. It gets stuck in that fist forum, "General Discussion". I've turned the cache on and off, I've changed the search index feature from 'one index for all' to 'one index for each' and back and nothing works. Rebuilding the stats and member histories has problems as well as they seem to get stuck on something. Rebuilding member stats works however.
