i'm running now ubb 6.04e (i'll upgrade this week when the server configures the php and the safe mode) Meanwhile i have one question: the search isn't working! when i do a search it doesn't finds nothing! when i try to rebuild the "search index" it gives me this error: "Hack attempt logged: attempting to open topic file that is not in proper format"... i'm currently using one index file, if i choose to have one index file for each forum, what do i need to make next?
In the CP it says: "If you ever change this setting, you MUST recreate your index (click on the Recreate Index link in your UBB control panel after you make the change)."
Where the is that "recreate index link"??!?! And what can i do to clear that "hack attempt logged..."?!?
Tks for your help

It sounds like your search index file is corrupted... you can delete it from the cache/search_index and rebuild it. Or create a search index for each forum... either way works. Then just rebuild search index... (that's what it means by "recreate index")

Using index files for each forum... If i try to rebuild the search index it gives me: "Hack attempt logged: attempting to open topic file that is not in proper format."
Using one index file... it gives me the same error... what can i do ?

i think i found the mistake... all cache* directories and files cache*/* are with user and group "nobody"... shouldn't they be with my own user ?? Is this the mistake ? on my test board all files are with my own user.. but on my primary board the files are with user "nobody" when you check with a "ls -la"..
How can i fix this ? (i'm not root at the server.. chown command will not work to change user on files)
Tks in advance

Both of you, remove any hacks that you may have, then upgrade to 6.3.0.1 (or wait a few hours for 6.3.1)... that should fix the problem.
UBB.classic: Love it or hate it, it was mine.

Thanks Charles, for your reply. Hopefully I can work around my search index error and continue to use my ubb for a while before upgrading.
