I have a question recarding the accelerator. I have version 6.1.0, and I saw this new PHP option. I did the test, and here are my results:

"Your PHP version is 4.03: OK - old, but it should work
Your PHP version has zlib: Yes, but your PHP version is too old to use zlib properly"

then it says

"Your PHP version will have no issues with the UBB Accelerator. There are known issues with using zlib compression in your PHP version. The UBB Accelerator will be unable to use zlib compression."

So, do you think I should turn it on? DO risk anything? Is my PHP version not new enough on the server? Thanks.

You shouldn't have any problems if you turn it on. Because of the version, you won't reap the full benefits (e.g. zlib won't work), but it will still increase the speed of your board over not turning it on.

When I run the UBB Accelerator Test i get a error on the page and errors in the forum. As far as i know i have PHP and zlib installed correctly.

Here are the errors.

When I run ubbaccel_test.php i get...
quote:
Warning: Undefined variable: combostrings in D:IISwwwrootforums2ubbaccel_test.php on line 126
Your PHP version is 4.12: OK
Your PHP version has zlib: Yes

Your PHP version will have no issues with the UBB Accelerator. The UBB Accelerator will use zlib compressed output.

And when I try and load a thread I get...

Try to turn off warnings in php.ini (I think it's "safe_mode = On" line - make it 'Off')

That's not it LK. Those warnings are associated with global variables. For security's sake, PHP recommends that "register_globals = off". In the default installation before 4.1, register_globals = on smile Thus you have two options:

1) upgrade to UBB 6.2.x - ultimatebb.php works now when register_globals = off
2) turn register_globals on in php.ini
